Lots of English speaking movies in non English speaking countries are dubbed (Sometimes you have the option to watch the movie subbed or dubbed, but there are less of that now) and Anime is only subbed if you watch it online. The one that is on TV is dubbed as well.

Source: I live in a Spanish speaking country.

The beginning of EEAAO was pretty slow and confusing but holy smokes did that movie totally shape up once it got going. Balled my eyes out like a baby multiple times. It is very well-deserved of its best picture win.

Also how did you not like parasite?

Have not seen the remake of AQOTWF or Athena but The Northman absolutely did not deserve BP especially over EEAAO.

No. Napoleon was not a revolutionary no compromise republican that would only be satisfied by the destruction of all thrones. His actions are proof of that: he declared himself emperor (meaning the most important monarchical ruler in Europe, above kings in status), he made France into a hereditary monarchy again, he created his own nobility and invited back the old French nobility that went into exile during the Revolution.

So no, he wasn't against monarchy. He wanted France to be a monarchy among other monarchies in Europe... but then, why:

>It sort of feels as though Napoleon was vilified by the Royal families revising history after his defeat.

Because while he wanted to make France into a monarchy again, he wanted to realize the dream of a lot of French monarchs before him: make France the sole superpower in Europe.

That's why he created new kingdoms (Italy, Holland) and usurped old kingdoms (Spain, Naples) and put his brothers and brothers in law on those throne: because his family should rule the largest part of Europe possible.

He also conquered a lot of territories. That's France around 1799 (when Napoleon takes power in a coup). That's France a decade later. He annexed the whole of the Benelux, western Germany, Rome, Northern Italy... and usurped a lot of kingdoms around him.

That's why he was hated. Not because he was going to hang all the monarchs... but because he wanted to take their lands and title away. And put all of Europe under France direct or indirect control.

Discriminating against people because of their religious beliefs. Redditors claim to care about eradicating all forms of hate and discrimination but they will go ballistic on you when they find out that you are religious. I got 38 downvotes and was called a ‘Christofascist’ in a DM last week because I casually mentioned in a comment that my Christian faith was important to me. Like, what did I do wrong? Am I not allowed to have personal beliefs?

Personally, when I hear “lawlessness” I don’t take it to mean that it’s thunder dome all over.

I think if it more in the sense of “are laws being enforced?”

And, like, sure it’s not like no laws are being enforced but enforcement is pretty darn minimal.

I live here, I go about my day, and I’m not particularly concerned about my personal safety, but are the cops gonna do anything to help my friend whose car got stolen? Nope. How about anything about the blatant drug dealing that’s been happening on the corner for years? Also nope. The smoking and drug use on the El? Nope. Has the person who car jacked my neighbor been caught? Nope. Have they arrested anyone for a majority of the homicides? Nope.

So like, do I expect to get shot or robbed or whatever when I take my family out for dinner tonight on a patio?

No, not really. It’s not non-stop murder out there (although matching the homicide rate if Cartagena, Colombia isn’t really a source of civic pride either.)

But…we all know that a ton of laws are not being enforced, and I don’t think “lawlessness” is that terribly of a word choice to express this situation of widespread non-enforcement of laws, even if it’s not total chaos and mayhem out on the streets.

I think more conspiracy-minded right-wingers than we would like to believe are experiencing active psychosis of some variety, be it dementia or otherwise. If you read this post closely, a lot of the sentences are very disjointed and points come out of nowhere in a way that acts like they were already introduced and are just facts and that's true for a lot of them.
