Reply to Looking for a BIFL heavy duty, tough, durable work shirt jacket and work vest? by Throw-A-Way-4321
I bought a Sherpa lined Carhartt coat years ago. It’s now splattered with liquid nails, paint, etc. so it looks horrible. But it’s still very warm and indestructible. All buttons, zippers, seams, etc still work/closed. Only problem for me is the hood is extra big to accommodate a hard hat. It either falls down to cover my eyes or I have to roll it up.
(Thanks for the heads up on Legendary Whitetails. I was thinking of buying a new coat and the finalists were Carhartt, Dickies, or them. I’ll cross them off my list.)

I can't personally speak to the longevity of this wallet, on account of I just got mine, but I have Houbei 2.0 wallet from Open Sea Leather and is very high quality, slim (I front pocket carry), and has more than enough room for my cards and cash

Reply to Retiring my 10 year old Kobo touch for a new Kobo ereader I got for Christmas! It still works well! (Details in comments) by friendricklamar
I got this Kobo touch ereader in 2011 or 12 and I've used it and abused it (I lost it a couple of times between moves and who knows what adventures it went on!). It still does what it was advertised to do. It's harder to read on now as I've gotten older and can't handle as much eye strain, and I can't use it to read in bed in low lighting. This early version did not have the backlighting and other brightness features that all the ereaders started to include a few years ago.
I bought the Kobo Libre 2 for Christmas and so far so good. I appreciate the simplicity of Kobo readers and they feel sturdy and hold up over the years (disclaimer: I've only had the two models so far so YMMV but it seems like the common consensus about kobos is that they're a good buy if you're in the market for an ereader). I'd also recommend opting for simpler ereaders like these models rather than ones that emphasize all sorts of other fancy stuff like notetaking, internet browsing etc. instead of the reader experience! They all pretty much come standard with WiFi etc. and other capabilities but you're more likely to use that just for syncing libraries than to actually browse the internet.

That’s not how I meant it at all. I just meant if someone says Indian made leather, I would think that they were meaning an American Indian where the ppl are known to use buffalo and cow skin and make leather, rather than ppl from a nation where almost 80% of the population revere cows as sacred.
Indians are good at tons of things, ppl all over the world are well versed at tons of things. This wasn’t a knock against Indians, I just made an assumption that you were referring to a certain ppl and I was wrong.

I agree with the simplicity. If you decide to get a fixed gear, about $1000 can get you an amazing steel bike that’s pretty light. I’d go for Wabi if you do want one.

There are so many small companies that are fantastic. This was from Komal's Passion Leather, and it's significantly less fetishy than it sounds.

You’re trying so hard to be correct, repeat after me “Sorry I made 2 assumptions, and I have been proven wrong in both, also nice leather bag mate”

Good leather, great stitching and durable as hell.

Ah yes the common stereotype of Indian people not being skilled leather workers.

Curious on where in India did you buy it from?
Is it a brand that one can buy online or at a store in India?

A second vote. I got mine back in 09 it 10. Been carrying it every day since. Looks great, still supple. Clean and moisturize it one or two times a year with oppenaufs.
Saddleback ID wallet to be precise.

Ah cool. I didn’t expect an Indian to be particularly skilled in leather and could totally see that being an American Indian thing.
