I now know for a fact we have different ideas about what "great mashed potatoes" are. 🤣

Checkout Stressless. Around half the price of an Eames and more comfortable, especially if you are taller. They come in quite a few different styles, and I’d suggest having him sit in some if you can find a local dealer as the different styles do have a different feel to them all.
For the last few years I’ve been considering one. I went to a party back in May and the owner of the house had one. I asked him about it and he said he bought it in 1994. It was heavily colored where his head and arms touched, but I’m guessing he didn’t put a lot of time into conditioning and cleaning. He told me I had to sit in it and try it out, which I did. It was definitely in great shape as far as the padding and features. When you consider it was 28 years old it was amazing. It was his favorite chair, and he practically lived in it. His wife also had one in a room in part of the house where the party wasn’t happening.
I bought one in June, very happy with it. But I got a style I didn’t expect while shopping online since when I tried them in a store the one I thought I would prefer wasn’t quite as comfortable as the one I ended up getting. I purchased the Wing model.

I’ve had great luck with Trickers from the UK and Paraboot from France for a casual dress/formal daily wear.
Both are resoleable.
FWIW I’m 240lbs and walk a lot so I’m hard on my shoes

Reply to Aran wool sweater question by doomaflotch
You cannot ask the internet sizing questions. Full stop. Quit it. Sweaters are especially terrible in this regard as they can stretch. You got questions about that? You try it on in person or refer to the website for fitment help.
There are technically zero trustworthy sites as every site can feature fraud. Don't look at amazon, look at EVERY site.
Genuine Aran. There is no such thing. Aran is not a Vidalia Onion where its a specific type of onion grown in a specific region. Aran means many things to many people. A holy shit red cardigan dress from Burkina Faso could be called an Aran Sweater and feature a large Irish flag tag stating so. And it would be fine. Aran can refer to:
- A country of origin (or not)
- A color palette (or not)
- A weave type (or not)
- A style (or not)
- A wool fabric (or not)
So using the above, ANYTHING can be called an Aran Sweater as there is no standard. In fact, what I had for dinner this evening, I'm now going to call an Aran Sweater because I can.

Reply to Online Stores Reliability by [deleted]
This is BIFL, not the internet safe shopping subreddit. There are 690 billion websites. We cannot list the reliable and unreliable ones. And zero retailers have a 100% legit rating as fraud is always a possibility. Literally the only way is to buy nothing and that's not possible so do what you can.

When I was in the US Army (83-87), I was always amazed at how well out combat boots cleaned up. We could have been in the mud, water, scuffing the heck out of them all week but an hour's worth of work and they'd be spit-shined and looking like patent leather, come inspection time.

>Generation Alpha (Gen Alpha for short) is the Western demographic cohort succeeding Generation Z. Researchers and popular media use the early to mid 2010s as starting birth years and the mid 2020s as ending birth years. Named after the first letter in the Greek alphabet, Generation Alpha is the first to be born entirely in the 21st century. Most members of Generation Alpha are the children of Millennials. Generation Alpha has been born at a time of falling fertility rates across much of the world.

The beginning year is a bit fuzzy, but for research purposes the starting year is 2010. Lots of stuff says early to mid 2010s.

Reply to Can anyone suggest a durable non stick cook set? Preferably one which doesn't break the bank by revnhoj
Calphalon contemporary Nonstick can be had for $350 or so. Lifetime warranty (you usually cover shipping). My last replacement I didn’t have to send the old one back. As others have said make sure you use silicone or nylon utensils as metal will ruin it. Also make sure it is one of the sets with a lifetime warranty - some only have 10 year spans.
