The BIFL answer is Sony 7506 with a mod mic.
Probably ~$150 all in. The 7506’s are absolute workhorses and are known around the industry to sound fantastic and LAST.

Since seeing them on Shark Tank they ate the only socks I buy for our household. Well made, they donate a pair to the homeless for every pair you buy. Win-win.

Concur. None of the ones we’ve bought the last couple of years have lasted. They don’t even make it a year. I’m done buying from Bombas.

Gingher is the answer. You will pass them to your kids. I have my grandma's and they are still perfect.

Great company but I don’t think the socks are great.
Had a few pairs and loved their buy one donate one policy but they feel cheap after couple of wears.
Gone back to smart wools.
Don’t think they are BIFL.

Opens from the back now. Easier to access components, and back glass repair can be done with a simple replacement.
Still doing all the anti repair software and other Appleness though

I hated my Bombas at first but now I wear the hex tech golf every day. Great sock. I never wear my darn toughs.

Osprey has a really nice warranty program, not sure how they hold up to that much weight but if the straps do break they’ll give you a new one.

Steelcase Criterion. I have one at work that’s 22 years old, and bought two more from a university property dispossession warehouse (a great source for indestructible furnishings). If the pneumatic cartridge in a Steelcase chair fails, it’s very much worth the $50 replacement part.

Be aware that price is just for the bag and insert, the frame costs extra.
In reality, though, the frame is fucking solid and the bag is just an ALICE pack with a trash can in it.
Food for thought.

Bombas sucks. All their socks fall apart and start pilling instantly.
I did the same thing and they sent me new socks, which promptly died as well.

I heard recently that if you buy Kitchen Aid, buy it directly from them off their website. That in order for them to make a profit on items sold through retailers, the quality for those batches had to be lowered, but the quality of the items through their site was much higher. I cannot say if that is true or not. But I bought a Kitchen Aid directly from them almost 11 years ago and use it multiple times per week. Have barely done any maintenance on it aside from occasional deep cleaning. Still works and looks just like new.

Something always rubs me wrong when companies advertise they are giving away one pair for each they sell. Why not charge half price?

I have the Sennheiser PC38X and it's pretty solid. I use it for meetings so I've never rage quit and hurled it across the room, but it's pretty sturdy. I also like that it's got a mechanical switch that turns off the microphone when you flip it up, so you don't have to click a button or something to mute.

Oh geesh, for training hit up used sporting goods store and just chuck weights in there. Or water bladders. Your bag body will last a lot longer then.

How many layers are in the sole of your mulgas? I suspect that the older mulgas have a simpler yet stronger construction.
My 6 month old pair seem to have a felt foot bed layer that has been stitched/cemented down between the leather upper and the lasting board. It is much weaker than the layers above and below it, so it has disintegrated at the ball of the foot. I think that I'll struggle to get another month of use out of them before the felt drops out and leaves gaping holes.

I use my stainless steel julienne peeler often for salads and such, a good quality citrus squeezer, and a good stainless zester for everything from garlic to parm cheese. Small items that do big jobs.

I do the same thing. I also only wash them once I’ve used all pairs so that they are all washed equally and will wear out semi evenly.
