I also like the ObusForme chairs - they are 500-1000 depending on the model, but last years. If you order it, you can pick the color/fabric.

The donated sock is probably the cheapest possible style and material. Chances are you can't even buy the donated sock style.

I’m not sure any athletic sock is bifl. My go to has become Balega. They take a lot of wear. Most pairs I have are 3-4 years old and still in good condition. Never tried Bombas.

Corningware baking dishes. Vintage or new, doesn't matter. Got this as a wedding gift, still going strong 24 years (and the marriage too) https://www.corningware.com/product/french-white-18-piece-round-oval-set
Mom has these, also a wedding gift, never broken one in 54 years, use them multiple times a week. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1260962956/corning-ware-cornflower-vintage?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_e-home_and_living-kitchen_and_dining-cookware-casserole_dishes&utm_custom1=k_CjwKCAiAzKqdBhAnEiwAePEjkoUQrZ5sU_ZOUCgS2nk6G7HB24cAGLXk1ycImttCoRtFKeQ0nSEvwxoC2rAQAvD_BwE_k&utm_content=go_1844702805_70809537318_346429646849_aud-1184785539738:pla-305374519816_c__1260962956_129054899&utm_custom2=1844702805&gclid=CjwKCAiAzKqdBhAnEiwAePEjkoUQrZ5sU_ZOUCgS2nk6G7HB24cAGLXk1ycImttCoRtFKeQ0nSEvwxoC2rAQAvD_BwE I do see these second hand quite often

SPLURGES:
Odd Measures I adore mine and use them all. the. time. Instead of the normal 1/4 cup, 1/3 cup, 1/2 cup 1 cup, the set is 2/3 cup, 3/4 cup, 1 1/2 cup, and 2 cups.
A push-up measure great for butter, peanut butter, honey, vegetable paste and anything thick that's really hard to get out of a spoon. cleans up easily too. In searching I discovered there a big 2 cup versions as well! I love my little teaspoon/ tablespoon size.
Had to edit, forgot the am azon rule

There aren’t many timber finishes that will tolerate hot tea/coffee mugs without leaving rings. No timber finish will tolerate a hot pot from the stove or oven without marking.
You would either need a pretty rustic finish timber, and treat marks that build up over time as character, or go to some sort of stone, glass, reconstituted stone or porcelain.

Probably a lacquer or Shellac that will create a durable finish over the wood

Thanks! Is there a particular finish of food that works well? Some of the cheaper options don't mention a finish, but I've seen Fjord finish and oak veneer as well

Light woods or red hue woods with minimal grain, maple oak, cherry. Also sintered stone, light colors with gold accents, or some polished steel.

I would say a hardwood (oak?) Or corian. Stainless steel is probably the lowest maintenance (think commercial kitchen) but probably the most limiting style wise

It sounds like an unsustainable warranty. How long do they think they can keep replacing socks without any real constraints. At the end of the day they'll tighten up on their warranty terms once enough people purchase the socks. Otherwise, no way can they manage the cost.

Reply to comment by Srs_Bizz in Backpack that can carry 100 pounds by Smoothlarryy
I won’t say nobody was, but very few people in the military were ever carrying 100-125 pounds in a backpack.
A lot of the weight was distributed elsewhere in our body armor/plates, weapons, helmet, NVG, ammo/batteries radios on the front of our vests, etc
Even then, the motto was “light as right”—we try to strip as much weight as possible by doing things like taking everything out of its container, carrying loose amino instead of extra magazines etc
And to your point, yes, my knees and back are still permanently fucked up from it, and I never even jumped much.

I got some refurbished Wahl Lithium Vario Clippers in 2017 for £20 when I started shaving my head and they just packed in this year so I replaced them with some wired refurbished Wahl Balding Clippers for like £30 that have way more power in them, used them once a week for about 6 months now and I reckon these will outlast the last set.

The merino socks are so damn nice. The toddler size cotton socks lasted about a year before developing a hole in the sole. Decent wear IMO. Have returned Bombas that were wrong size and they indeed told us to keep the wrong size.

Reply to how should I condition this pair of crown northampton leather sneakers? by Connect_Boysenberry8
I’m guessing the leather is embossed with a texture. If it’s real leather, you should be able to condition it. I would recommend Saphir Renovature. As for the cut, I have no idea a lace would need to get through the tongue up there, but maybe try and figure out a way to mend it or reinforce the back to keep it from tearing more.
