Look for U.K. scissors makers Ernest Wright and William Whiteley. Their scissors really are built for a lifetime.

We have a second hand Christmas tree that’s over 30 years old and I realized this year that thing is looking RAGGED. I think it’s the past 15 years of our cats climbing in it and making it shed faster than the years it spent with myhusband’s family.

I.e. mine got used 15–30 times more often. Had it been yours, it would've lasted 165–330 years. I know I'm simplifying a lot here, but I do think that 11 years is pretty damn good for a daily driver.

I actually like them. They’re cotton so they don’t last as long as wool, but I find cotton more comfortable. My kid has some really corrosive foot sweat and she used to destroy regular cotton socks in like 2 months and bombas last much longer for her than any other cotton sock. bombas is also very good about replacing them if you ask.

Their “Run” socks wore out faster than almost any other running socks I’ve ever owned, including crappy generic Target ones. I love DT, own like 8 other pairs of crew/boot length, but won’t touch their running socks again

Actually they’re not! Got my hands on a donated pair because my hometown school (high poverty area) is one of the places they give away socks. They’re regular bomba socks.

The answer is not one that you will like, but you need to hear it. Rubbermaid Commercial. These are brutes. The big yellow bucket with wringer. The handle. The mop heads, which you can wash. All bulletproof. They make some "Swiffer" type commercial heads now too, but you said mop.

I've used one of these for 14 years or so and just replaced the towel part once.

Probably an equivalent US version out there. Fill a sink or bucket. Wet/wring out the towel head. Mop. Repeat. $20 and still going strong.

That doesn't sound like a long lifespan for a hair dryer. I never use them daily though, maybe once or twice a month.

I bought wool Bombas 2 years ago. I think around 8 pairs.
Every single sock except for 1 individual one has had a hole in the heel.
No other sock I’ve ever owned has had this problem.
They were comfy but total waste of money.
Never again.

That's weird, maybe the buckle is defective? I haven't had this problem at all, I can get this belt way too tight if I want to. I usually have to loosen it a bit

Yeah! Overcharge for inferior products so there’s enough margin to send a second subpar product without hesitation when first product fails!

Pretty sure it's going to out live me at this point. Even the base is glass on mine. It was used in a pretty nice architecture firm's office before I got it from them. It had a few tiny scratches on it so I put that side down. I figure it must have been some sort of metal or stone building sample because we haven't hurt it at all.

You can just do what my wife does. Find out what brands you want to target and check the common retailers for when sales usually happen. My wife basically refreshed both our wardrobes during sales with good brands.

Haha you're funny, dude. And you couldn't be more right. Now I realized that even saddle soap has color. I'd better be more cautious when dealing with them. Thank you so much.

Probably, yes. I still would never have expected it to stay with me for over a decade and that's why I posted it here. It was 5€ mind you. But like I said, point taken, as you and multiple other people have pointed out it obviously wasn't the kind of post intended for this sub.

Marble is heavy, expensive, and you have to seal it every year. Take a look at quartz. It’s one of the hardest materials around, it’s ma made so it can be made lighter and cheaper, as well as not needing to be sealed. That will probably be the most durable option

The best would be to look at the Mohs Hardness Scale and/or the Rockwell Scale and start at the top and work your way down. The best would be a diamond table top. Tungsten would be the logical choice.
Snark aside, the internet can't help as we don't know your budget, whether this is a DIY venture or a pre-built venture and what meets your definition of neutral and inviting/fits with Japandi.

I had a table with a corian top, it was awesome, never had to bother with coasters or placemats, easy to clean. I gave it to a friend because it was a big table and I was downsizing, still going strong 15+ years later.
