I always follow Bourdain’s recommendations in Kitchen Confidential. Bourdain’s knives #5-8

I have a Miyabi with the birchwood handle. It's very nice, very sharp, but just know that you can't sharpen these on a pull through sharpener, you need to use a sharpening stone, of high enough quality not to ruin the knife, and there's a learning curve to using those, you need to practice on less good knives to get confident. Tbh I'm afraid to sharpen my Miyabi. It's also very brittle compared to European knives, so you have to take a good amount of care. I've never chipped mine but only because I'm very conscious about using it. They are brittle because the steel is much harder than European steel, meaning they can be sharpened finer and keep sharp longer, but they have less flex as a result. People often snap the very tip off, or worse, a chip along the length. I have a Victorinox chefs knife as a beater, and while I get pleasure from using the Miyabi, in terms of function, they aren't very different.

No idea about that one, but I like to plug these guys as much as I can. Made in the USA, high quality. It's my family's daily chef knife and has been flawless. https://virginiaboyskitchens.com/collections/chefs-knives/products/stainless-steel-chef-knife-8-inch-full-tang-wood-handle

Got married in the 70s. Bought our tree from Odd Lots / Big Lots in the 80s. ( Have to ask wife what year we got married and not ready for that discussion ). So that's 40ish for both tree and marriage.

My sister has our grandparents fake tree. Not sure exactly how old it is, but mom says at the very least 46 years. It looks great too. Grandpa always put it back in the original box. Sister got a new, nicer box for it 9 years ago.

Be careful at the outlets. Often, products made for outlets are very much of "outlet quality", and made specifically to be an outlet price.

Slept under the one my grandmother got when she went off to college. She graduated in 1940. Yes, they really are that good snd last that long. I did not inherit it, but I also live where we have generally very mild winters. My cousin who lives in the mountains got it.

It's awesome! Especially when they don't really look super dated either, they aged well.

I'm not sure actually. For me, without a hoodie they are sweaters and with one they are hoodies.

Next hair dryer clean the intake filter, and maybe it will last even longer. The cover should screw or pop off, then wash it with warm soapy water and let it air dry 🙂
Tbh, I bonked mine on the countertop and that must have knocked something lose, got another 2 years out of that hair dryer 😂 But only bang/hit it as a last resort. It also might have overheated and just needs to sit around unplugged for a few days.

I've had VERY good experiences with banana republic suiting.
Sizes up to 20 and good quality fabrication and cuts. Perfect if you tailor them.
I'm big in the chest but small in the shoulders with short arms so always have to alter.
I have suits and blazers from BR that I have had for years.

If they have them on Amazon you can buy a $150 giftcard and pay the rest on credit card. It looks like they might also have them at cabelas in which case you could buy a $150 cabelas gift card and do the same
