My pair of adidas Cloud Foam shoes from Costco have lasted 3 years. I consistently wear them every day to work in a manufacturing environment where I do a lot of walking. 3 years for $35 sneakers is a lifetime

Funny story, one day I thought to myself “I have too many shoes, I’m going to pick a pair and wear them until they burn out.” I picked wrong and I still have too many shoes 3 years later.

You first need to learn the metrics of shirting as you don't know them. Shirts give zero fucks about your height and weight. Shirts care about your chest measurement, your neck measurement and your sleeve measurement. This is probably why you are currently unhappy with CT as you are buying randomly vice specifically. I'd recommend you go to the closest CT location and get fitted and then try on an example of their fits to determine what you like.

Now if you live too far, another option is custom. https://www.moderntailor.com/ and https://www.itailor.com/designshirts/ being options though there are others.

Miyabis and shuns are extremely thin and have to be really taken care of otherwise they will chip. The steel they use to make these are more brittle than German steel knives. The brittler steel is useful since it can get much sharper and hold it's edge longer than a softer steel. But the tradeoff is the chipping

Henckels, wusthof, and other German steel will be more suited to a non professional cook. As they are thicker and made with softer steel so they will be more inclined to bend than chip if you happen to cut wrong. Once bent they can easily be honed back to shape with a honing steel
