I can't say enough good things about Bick 4 and Blackrock Leather n Rich for making shoes look as good as possible. I'm very lucky that only two of the pairs had visible damage beyond scuffing or dry leather

Mine too! I live in the subtropics so wear them 11 months a year. I'm currently experimenting with different fixes for this. If I figure it out I will make a post!

Anything with a good year welt would be good. White’s Boots, Nick’s Boots, Red Wing, Danner, Crockett & Jones, and Cheaney are good options and will likely last you forever

Can’t go wrong with Redwing iron rangers which I think go down to a US size 5 (not sure what that is in European but you mentioned 6 in your post being a bit too big)

Boston based. Tasmania blundstones are my everyday boots for work. I’ve worn them everyday under 45 with no precipitation for 3 years.
When it rains I wear rain boots (hunter or llbean boots). When it snows I wear snow boots (sorel).

If you search for handmade for small leather goods in the US, you can find some good small artisan shops.

I don't think you'll find a BIFL rubber boot but Bogs are the best I've worn.

I've had an Akubra, I wrecked it in 18 or so months at work, went back to Stetson. The beaver felt seems to hold up better to moisture than the rabbit felt. Not shitting on the brand, there is just something better for my situation.

I can’t wear other peoples shoes. They are already molded to their foot.

I'm pretty sure I got those same J&M lambskin loafers as a Christmas gift when I was a teenager. They weren't fashionable then, aren't fashionable now, and I'd wager they won't be at any point in the future. But holy crap are they comfortable.
The sole is better than some athletic shoes, and the lambskin is so supple that I could still wear them when they were a full size too small. I'm still upset I outgrew them.

I liked them about 10 years ago but they got noticeably more cheaply made and more expensive at the same time. I prefer rainbows.

In my fifties, I will also buy such shoes.

Definitely hanks belts. 100 year warranty, super thick leather. I love my wallet and will last me a life time. I was at a redwing store a few weeks ago and was comparing some of their wallets they had in store and they where just flimsy in comparison. If you want a BIFL wallet hanks belts is the way….. can also confirm their belts are awesome too

Most items on Etsy are not handmade. The CEO even admits it. They have went so downhill. Avoid Etsy.

Uhoh. I just remembered I used my dad’s pair for snow shoveling last year. They were his good driving gloves. I got them scratched up and salted. Fudge. Know where I can get similar looking replacements cheap?
I will attest to quality though. They lasted 2 years of heavy winter snow removal use.

My stitching around the outside always comes loose. I have had 2 pairs just like the leather ones you bought. The stitching always comes loose.
