The dynamics get even better in the south, where we absolutely need air conditioning.

Heat pump water heater in the house means cheap hot water and free air conditioning.

I haven't picked one yet but it's coming soon, before summer!

I'd really like one I can duct to a external air supply/exhaust in the winter, I have yet to select a model.

They are not water efficient at ALL, which Consumer Reports weighs very heavily.

However, most of the energy from washing clothes comes from hot water, but modern good detergents are designed to clean with cold water. I run nothing but a cold water (or cool, in the winter, via the Maytag) wash and have no issues with stains whatsoever (I have three small children).

Makes me feel old that this is a ā€œbuy it for lifeā€ post on a product that didn’t exist when I bought my standard TI-84 in Algebra 1 which is still kicking it by the way lol. My wonderful TI-89 lives on my desk still used daily and that was bought in 2010(?) now I feel old

My parents got married in 1977. They bought a Maytag washer and dryer. They finally replaced them because of broken parts that couldn't be procured in 2019 and 2022. They only had minor repairs 3-4 times on each machine over the entire life.

They replaced them with SpeedQueens.
