I don’t think they’ve ever been sharpened.

There are high quality leather products that require a lot of maintenance, and low quality leather that requires little maintenance. If there’s any correlation, it’s weak.
Generally leather quality is based on the quality of the hide (what part of the hide, what weather conditions the cows lived in, what scars they had, etc.), the type of leather (full grain, corrected grain etc), thickness, and the quality of the tanning.
Yes you can judge leather by the amount of maintenance it requires, but you’d be eliminating many of the better options in other metrics.

I have traveled to something like 80 countries now and have used all sorts of bags both nylon, leather and aluminum. At the end of the day everyone who travels to the ends of the earth ends up with a nylon bag. They are lighter and more durable than leather. Buy an Osprey and don't look back. I was on a boat ride in Patagonia recently and over half the luggage was Osprey, and the rest was a mix of high end north face duffels and some Patagonia duffles.

Any specific recommendations? An Amazon link would be nice.

Isn't that a correlation?
Anyway, what is high quality and what is low quality? I was not talking about quality tiers?
Afaik quality of something is an attribute of it, and maintenance frequency is one of the qualities that leather can have.

I got a couple blankets from the factory store in Woolrich PA around 8 years ago, same style but different color. Mine's gone around the world with me on my army adventures. The other's been in my dad's boat on countless fishing trips. Both are still in fantastic condition.

Cavalry. Calvary (also known as Golgotha) is where Jesus was said to have been crucified.

The kitties are just adding an extra layer of catsmere.
I'll see myself out.

Miele and SEBO are both German brands that make great vacuums. I have a SEBO E3 premium, and it’s simply a wonderful vacuum. It cleans well, easy to service, and could easily see it lasting a long time. Incredibly well built.
Canisters are handy because it allows the part you move to actually vacuum with to be very small, lightweight, maneuverable, and easily cleaned. Getting into hard to reach areas are a non-issue, and swapping attachments is easy. Stairs have never been easier. Under the bed is now easy. The cord easily retracts so you never have to think about winding it up. The bags are easy to replace, last a LONG time, and keep the whole experience…clean. No dust when emptying. One bag can last months depending. It’s really a great experience.
My issue though is that with a canister, you have to think about where to store it. With an upright, you just put it in a corner and it’s done. With a canister, you put the canister in the corner, but now you also have a long bulky hose and vacuum head that needs a home next to it. The floor real estate it takes up when storing it is a real problem when every inch of storage space is vital; my current situation of being in a studio with my wife reflects this.

I got a couple thermal long sleeves from Costco to wear as a base layer just to be a bit warmer this winter for like $11. Really surprised lol, they work quite well. No wearing issues yet.

I have two sets as well and love them! I got them with my house, which was my grandpa's and he was always a firm believer in quality products, especially made in USA. They're the best!

Ballistic nylon and cordura are very common synthetic fabrics that I would consider more durable than leather or just plain ripstop! There are definitely ripstop cordura or xpac patterns too. Leather is if you like the material itself and are OK with seeing it patina, synthetics for long term durability and ease of repair.

The air cooled dirtbikes last forever. The XR series is my favorite and i still ride one built in 1989.
Also own a vintage 1969 honda CT 70.. I agree they perfected the 4 stroke in terms of reliability. they're the Toyota Corolla of dirtbikes

Quality doesn’t really correlate with how much maintenance. Many “lower quality” leathers actually usually require less maintenance because they’re tanned with more chemicals (or are coated with coatings) that retain moisture better than your regular high quality veg tan. You might have less folding, but you’ll get plenty of UV, water, salt, sweat, etc., on a bag.
But in any event, beefy nylon is very durable - the only major weakness is tearing.
