I had a black and red Dakine backpack from 2015 to about 2018 before I had issues. The issues were tearing right where the straps join to the bag at the top (where your neck goes when you wear it) and the straps were actually breaking down, leaving small red fibers everywhere. I don't think I'll ever own one again.

I have two pair of Sorels, one has attached gaiters that reach up to my knees for the deep stuff. The others are shoes with something like a snow tire tread. Have worn both pairs every Winter for years with zero problems.

GrainWood Furniture. The IKEA/Wayfair flatpack assemble-it-yourself concept, but made out of solid wood. Prices aren't crazy.
You could also build a bed frame with relatively basic tools and dimensional lumber. Rockler woodworking has brackets like these that don't require mortises.

Second for KD Frames. Love mine that I bought last year. Very solid.

Dakine has a pretty good lifetime warranty. You send them a pic of damage and they will give you credit to their online store if you cut an X in the front of the backpack so you can’t exploit the warranty process multiple times.

FYI, for anyone reading this:
The "model" of the foot is called a "last."
If you have a good pair of leather shoes, you can probably find the lasting number for that model and see what other options the mfg makes so you know exactly what to buy.
Sizing can (and does) vary between lasts, not only across different companies but even within the same one!

I have a black Dakine bag from this era that I bought circa 2006 that is in like-new condition despite having been on three continents and beat to fucking hell. Love Dakine.

It's pretty personal tbh.
For me, Adidas Ultraboosts are by far the best feeling sneaker I've worn. So comfortable and light it's like nothing is there.
Boots? Salomon hiking boots or Redwing leather boots are what I've got at the moment but I'm eyeing up a set of Nick's that's tempting.
Can you get access to a brannock device to measure your feet? Width plays a big part in fit, not just the typical length measurement you see

Oh wow, I had one of those it was camo coloured, but I swear the same model. I could strap my snowboard onto the back of it.
I used it for years and then sold it still working fine.

Dakine also makes great suitcases, I've traveled all over the world with them and never had any issues at all. My friend came with me once and the zipper and one of the wheels on her Samsonite both broke during one airport trip.

Came here to say this. Go find an Amish furniture store. Even if you don't buy anything, because it's expensive, it's beautiful and has incredible craftmanship.

I suggest you consider buying a sheet of plywood and using that to replace or reinforce the particle board.

Mine was black, and my roommate left it at a party after a decade of almost daily use - needless to say he hasn't been forgiven... I hope someone else treats her well

Salomon’s are great. The outback has goretex and is really breathable and scratch scuff resistant I think Kevlar maybe?
