This was my only pack for a month in Thailand. It's been with me for a month in France, a couple of weeks in Japan, has been to Burning Man twice, and I take it on every road trip. Any other backpack would be in tatters with what this has been through and it's still good as new. It's easily the best pack I've ever owned.

Not sure what model I bought recently but it has metal zippers and a sunglasses pouch at the top. So far it's been great for travel with all the pouches. Who knows how long it will last though

I know this is just anecdotal evidence, but my mom bought me some Target brand Xhilaration pajama pants in 2005, and I still wear them. I've never had to mend any holes. The waist is a tie rather than elastic, so that hasn't worn out either.

They don't even make that brand anymore, but if you see them in thrift stores, grab them.

I've actually got my eye on some Ralph Lauren satin pajamas if you're looking for something with more guaranteed quality.

YKK zippers for the win? Honestly curious. YKK is an amazing company. They control every stage of the production process, from smelting of the metal, all the way to end packaging. I use the YKK brand as a measure of quality of clothes. If the company didn't skimp on the zipper, it's unlikely they cut corners with the fabric, sewing, etc.

When my husband and I met, I had a metal framed bed that I'd gotten from Walmart or some such place, and my husband bent it during a session of adult things. When we moved in together, we got a real wood one, possibly plywood, from Amazon and have moved to 3 different homes since then. It has held up very well.

Estate sales have elderly person furniture that's enormous and ornate and Amish furniture is also rather large and quite expensive. If you want something in the minimal or modern or contemporary design styles, just look for anything that's real wood. MDF is code for particle board, so avoid that.

Have the same pack in black and red - These old Heli Pros are my all time favorites. Dakine also made messenger bags that still hold up. I’ve abused the hell out of mine and they remain clutch game day players.

Wish I could provide more help. But, I can help give you an “avoid these”. I had some Polo/Lauren flannel of bottoms I wore for years. I loved them. Well, they ripped and I had to buy new ones. Got some online and they are so much lower quality. They’re way thinner and aren’t close to the quality of my old ones. I wish I could prove more guidance, but avoid Polo/Lauren.

I have basically the same backpack in camo. Bought it in August 2007 before my senior year of HS. Made it through college out of state, countless flights, and even got lost in Japan and made it's way back to me a week later.

Best backpack.

I’ve had the same Dakine bag for maybe 13 years. Would still be going if I hadn’t foolishly broken the zipper a few months ago. Totally my fault. Thing was a tank.
