Reply to BMW M leather jacket 40+ years old. I inherited it from my stepfather 20 years ago and wore it every year since then, like across fall & winter time. The zip is now broken, the color faded away but still - by far - my favorite jacket. by k7v1n
Cool! Get yourself a 300td and that jacket fixed. Every euro fan would like a chat with u at car meets. The jaaaackeeet 🤌🏼🤌🏼

I've had a Dakine backpack that I've used near daily for over a decade, all the way through university and through every job I've had since and it's still going. I've been meaning to make a post about it in this sub, but I guess you've beaten me too it.

I’ve had a Dakine school backpack for 10 years now. I used it every day in university, wear it to work, and have taken it on every vacation, camping trip, hike since and it’s still in perfect condition

Damn. Been wanting one. But I know they’re expensive. That’s so lame that these break so easily…

You have to scan receipts. They're printed with a vegetable ink that becomes invisible over time.

Do pick pockets avoid you? I always wondered if beaten up bags were a deterrent. I'd say don't clean it if you don't have people trying to take your stuff when you travel.

Haha, it was driving me nuts. I tighten the screws and it would still squeak. I sprayed the lubricant at the 4 corners where the metals attached and I sprayed the screws as well. I did this Sunday, as I just found out about this. You can also use WD40 I read, as most people are familiar with that. But I'm very frugal and wanted to save 2 dollars lol so I bought the 3 in 1 silicone lubricant, it worked immediately, not a squeak out of my bed. This is the link, but again as I read online most metal lubricants will work.

I'm thirding the leather conditioning. It's easy and can be found nearly anywhere that sells shoe polish. Just rub a little in every couple of years, it'll make your jacket look nearly new and last much longer.

Their new gear doesn’t seem to match the quality they used to have. My Gortex Dakine gloves also started falling apart after half a season.

Mine gave up after 15, but yes, very good backpacks!

Reply to This Mountainsmith day pack has survived 20+ years of international travel, Burning Man, and countless trips. Zippers work perfectly, no fraying or holes, just slight discoloration on the yellow bits. by TwystedKynd
I also have a mountainsmith 8 years now. Great backpack.

Sorry can't, no time! Taking backpack out for a coca mocha latte, it's his favourite. Boy, do we have fun together.

Have black&green Dakine — it's only 7 y.o. but still looks like the day I bought it. I'm sure after 10 years more it will also be usable!
