I'll add: it's not cheap to have it done professionally, but it's also something that doesn't need to be done but once every 15 -20 years depending on the wear and use. My dad bought a gorgeous leather winter coat in London in 1968. It's seriously groovy. He's had it conditioned twice. Still wears it every winter.

I have a Dakine x 686 ski jacket/backpack combo I’ve had for 16 years (well, I lost the backpack years ago) but the ski jacket is still in prime condition after hundreds of ski outings. I still get compliments on it to this day

I built a bed 2 years ago for my son using Ana White’s free woodworking plans. It was easy to build and is solid as a rock. He’s 11 and will be able to take that bed with him when he leaves on his own one day. The total for the wood and other supplies was about $150. It was easier than expected and it looks nice as well.

Can confirm the value of a good furrier for leather garment care. Had a Bonnie Cashin/Coach leather coat from the 1960s re-lined, re-shaped and reconditioned by one in New York with great results. I’ve kept it supple since with Saphir products.

Gorgeous!

Please look into Saphir’s line of exceptional leather cleaners and conditioners to give this jacket the love it deserves!

A good cobbler can help you replace the zipper, which should be a robust YKK sort.

I have a 72 BMW 2002 (got it around 2004). I had to replace the gas line to the carb once around 2015 and noticed the line had "Made in W. Germany" printed on it. I LOVE that...

Though I can't believe the damn thing hadn't fallen apart by that point. It was over 40 years old!

I’m wondering this too. I see a lot of people sharing bags on here are made in the early 90’s-00’s and are great, but the brand has gone down in quality since. Which is disappointing if you’re looking to buy one :/ I’m on the hunt for a good day pack, but my search hasn’t been too successful yet

Personally I feel blue-blocking glasses make the world seem dull and drab. The sensation on your eyes is like looking out into a cloudy day, whereas regular reading glasses feel like looking out into a bright day.
