I start with do I really need this? Often times my wants are disguised as needs. As such, I try not to make purchases on a whim. I'll usually carefully consider the purchase for a week or more before pulling the trigger. If I determine that I need something, I weigh up how good the quality needs to be. If it's something that I will use regularly, I buy the best quality item that I can afford. I also try to buy used as much as possible.

I appreciate the comment, my wife is the designer. I’ve posted some other furniture pieces on the mid century subreddit before with views of other rooms. The living room is getting there, the side table beside this chair is temporary.

I always thought that was from my short hairs stabbing the leather over and over again year after year.

I've had most of my clothes for 10+ years.
Lands end is incredibly unfashionable, but their materials are very solid. I'm a fan of their basics, things like t shirts, button downs, etc. Their dress shirts and slacks are especially nice.
Eddie Bauer has some nice heavier options for flannels and henlys. They look basically new still.
For jeans, I highly recommend getting some cheap raws. I'm bougie, so I like the weird materials naked and famous uses, but almost any sanforized raws will treat you well. Unsanforized shrink with exposure to water, which makes sizing difficult.
Boots: Red wing. Expensive but irreplaceable. I've worn them every day for years, and they still look great.
Socks: I like gold toe for any non-wool socks I need. If I need wool socks, I get the Kirkland ones. I have some from high school still, they've faded, but they're for boots, so who cares?
Non-boots: I get my dress shoes from Allen Edmonds, and my sneakers from vans or converse. I get running shoes and nonslips from new balance. To be blunt, they're borderline disposable, but I want all that damage going into my shoes and not my joints.
Belts: Pretty much anything full grain will last forever.

Fjallraven has a cotton-poly shell jacket that you can wax. The cotton makes it more breathable even though it’s only 35%, of course the wax makes it a little less breathable but it’s still better than all poly. I like that this material doesn’t get all clammy inside like 100% synthetics. I have hyperhidrosis so preventing clamminess is important to me and if it works for me, it’ll definitely work for the average sweating person haha.
They do lifetime repairs at their shops too. There’s a Fjällräven in Toronto.
They also have shell pants but I don’t know anything personally about the materials.

Have your husband sit in each of the sizes to be sure. They are fantastic chairs, definitely nap-worthy, but very pricey.

Are you working digitally? As a former painter, filmmaker and moved to digital artist @ mid 1990's. If you are having CPS symptoms already I'd suggest you invest in more ergonomic input devices, there are a wide array available. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Post injury devices are not long term solutions. I don't have a recommendation for you about your brace question, apologies.

I like having something reliable that won’t break when I need it the most. I also like the feeling of using an item that is truly well-designed. I like the feel of quality as well, especially for clothing and shoes. It truly makes a difference. I also enjoy knowing that I’ll keep these items longer instead of filling a landfill with several cheap iterations of the same thing. I’m blessed that I have the money to spend on quality stuff. I don’t buy a lot but when I do, I really take into account durability.
