Sure, they last forever, but they'll shorten the life of your clothes and use a lot of water doing it. Plus the smallish drum size is a PITA. Don't get why people love them so much. With the water and clothing saved you could easily afford to replace it with a less durable alternative more frequently.

I went down this rabbit hole like 5 years ago and ended up buying a cheap Amazon brand one despite initially looking for a more BIFL item. It's worked like a charm and I don't regret it. However, I'm watching this thread to see what people recommend.

I've used Nalgene bottles for years. They're plastic, but you can beat on them pretty good and they seem to stand up. It probably isn't a problem today, but you would want to avoid the BPA stuff. Nothing recently produced, (I think by anyone), would have that anymore though. The one negative, (for some), might be the unscrew cap. If you need a bottle that has a flip top or something, I don't know if they make those. Or rather, they probably do, but that would likely become the weakest link.
For metal, I'd maybe be thinking Yeti. I don't own a Yeti water bottle, but I do have a coffee mug. One day I left it on the front of a rescue truck and forgot it was there. We went on a call and it was missing when we got back. I traced our route and found it... it had clearly bounced down a hill on a street and off a wall. So had some scratches, but was fine. Took me another 5 - 10 minutes to find the top, but that was ok too. So I'm just assuming their water bottles are similarly tough.

I've got the TK wide 20oz. I want to get a smaller one too. I recommend the TK wide drinks insulated containers, not so much the food canisters.
I like the fact that you've got a choice of lids, and the cafe lid can be taken apart and cleaned thoroughly.

I have had my Cuisinart CPK-17P1 for five years. I use it almost every day.

I think it was Amazon. I looked in stores for a long time to find a replacement for my very very old one but couldn’t find one anywhere. I’m in Canada so they might be more available other places.

I’ve had a Merkur for 20 years and it still looks brand new. You made the right choice.

I’ve had the mx3 since 2019. Fabulous pair of headphones, still work as well as when I got them. I’ll be honest I don’t use them every day but they are definitely quality if you care for them and they have the Jack in case the wireless dies/

I've never had good luck with 3rd party controllers, and thru 3 gens of xbox I have only 1 controller that had any part that broke, and that was the wireless on my xbox 1 controller - it is now wired thanks to a long usb cable.

Scratch and dent is where it’s at. Got a Maytag commercial washer and dryer for a little less than half what MSRP is. All there were were a couple scuff marks and a popped out dent

Not the person you responded to, so I can’t speak to a wool pillow, but wool itself is naturally antimicrobial, which does a significant amount of the work for you.
And I use pillow protectors as an added washable layer under the pillow case on mine.

I like that Wirecutter tests pretty extensively (at least the items I’ve read reviews for). Their reviews also give good options that allow for a range of price points and in case you want all the bells and whistles.

Go to Ebay, find an original Tilia foodsaver that was made in Italy. You might need to replace the seal but parts are still available and they were made to last.

Curious, usually they all get Stickdrift after some time, due to the design of the potentiometers. Hall effect sensors would be a better choice. Can't think of any BIFL option, these types of electronics tend to be designed to be "consumed" these days

I honestly wondered the same! I thought “roached” was a fairly common word, but I’m a texan so that could be it 🫣😂
