Plastics, especially plastic lids.
Fine China unless it is labeled okay in the dishwasher.

Makes em dull. Also if you have wooden handles, it'll loosen the handles.
I often throw my cheap steak knives in anyhow, but they aren't BIFL to start with.

Reply to Looking for a pair of every day tennis shoes that don’t wear out within 3-6 months by leavin_marks
Campers are a little pricy but I had a pair last for over 20 years before I retired them and I didn’t actually throw them out, I gave them to my friend’s teenager who thought they were so “retro” she could not believe that I wore them frequently and they didn’t really age. I’m hard shoes too, the inside rear sole of every other shoe wears down pretty quick. My camper’s didn’t wear down like other shoes. So yeah, they are pricy but they are an investment that will last way beyond what you paid.

Nothing that a good cushion can't fix

Some people have phones for 4-5 years, even longer.. its not BIFL, but if you look at it like that nothing is BIFL...

There aren’t many electronics, especially phones, that aren’t obsolete soon after they’re released. Technology progresses so quickly. Smart phones are not a BIFL item, their cases even less so.

I actually just bought one of their harmony pillows after using a memory foam one for almost 10 years and I hate how low they are

Depends on how long ago they were replaced.
I was picturing 70’s Brady Bunch era plastic chairs, possibly in trendy dark orange or avocado green.

Yeah we definitely have our own versions of these in the states, I like the word “skip” for it :)

Hah and I bet the administration will brag the new chairs are made out of such and such percentage of recycled plastic, thus they are being so sustainable.🙄

Geez I wish they had donated them or put that stuff in a charity shop. It sucks that they tossed out wooden furniture and perfectly good clocks.

I knew that about wooden utensils, but I didn't know they dulled them out. Obviously cheap steak knives and butter knives, it's whatever, but the sharper knives you want to keep sharp, I'll remember to hand watch them.
