Do not put hand made ceramics in the dishwasher. They’re technically dishwasher safe, but the rapid heating and cooling from dishwashers can damage the glaze over time.

From a storage perspective I prefer containers with straight sides so there's no rolling. For stainless steel containers I only have experience with round and rectangle.

The one with the best leakproof lids.
Love, your lunchboxes.

I think you are imagining this. You don't even know that other people use a dishwasher.
I haven't used cascade in years but my sister did, and I never noticed anything.
I use Finish tabs.

Rectangle will fit best in many common insulated carriers, like the Fjallraven.

Ah, that makes sense. Guess I didn’t think about it from a heavy perspective.

Yeah - really surprised to see people hate on this chair. It’s the type of thing that was made and used widely for a long time.

Glass is a bit heavier to carry and kids aren’t too careful with them so we’ve been looking at stainless steel alternatives.

Why not go with Anchor Hawking or Pyrex glass?

Planned obsolescence is a thing.
I own an old cabover truck from the 60s. While finding certain parts is challenging these days everything on it is serviceable. Even after owning it nearly 5 years I'm still finding lubrication points I hadn't noticed before. Even the shafts that operate the cams for the air brakes have grease fittings.
By comparison some of our newer company trucks have the brake rotors on the inside of the axle flange. Every time the rotors have to come off , the axles have to come out of the differential. That means new axle seals, diff gasket and gear oil are required for a brake job.
Seriously, all they had to do was make the axle slightly shorter and put the rotor on the outside, like every other manufacturer has done for decades.

I've been using an Oster for over 20 years for my semiannual haircuts, no complaints. My sister gave me a Wahl, and it cuts much better. The tools (guards) are also more robust.

Don’t use heated drying. Your dishes will hold up better and you will use less energy. When our cycle finishes, we open the door to let everything air dry for a few hours or overnight.

surprised to not see it commented yet, but I won’t put in any mugs/plastic cups/water bottles with a raised decal/design unless they explicitly say dishwasher safe. it’s hard to describe but I know it when I see it.

I don’t know how old your kids are, but mine lost lids so I found the planet box lunch boxes to be the best solution for us. Easy enough for even a preschooler to open, can’t lose the lid, completely stainless steel. Our oldest used his from first grade through seventh daily and it still looks brand new.
