American Giant makes exceptional garments. Their Roughneck pant is awesome. Went to them originally for their heavy duty hoodie. 10 years in on the first one and still going strong.

Oh it must be five years or more at this stage. Granted these are more "casual" than my everyday work trousers which are Apache multi pockets things.
Go for brands that are marketed for hard wearing. Skate gear is also a good option.

They are basically a skate brand these days but imo lots of them make really durable stuff for obvious reasons lol. Have their slacks and love them plus a pair of shorts since high school

Dickies. Their casual trousers are hard wearing and look pretty sharp.

“We’re too poor to buy cheap things.”
EDIT: Perhaps I should’ve given some context. The quote is from one of Rajiv Surendra’s videos, and is the sentiment I grew up with. We didn’t have much money, but when we bought things, we bought the absolute best quality we could because we needed it to last. That’s the whole point of BIFL, and I feel like it’s especially important for people who don’t have much money, because buying something good once is often cheaper (and a lot more satisfying) than replacing it every couple of years. My grandmothers sewing machine cost them a month’s wages like 60 years ago, but soon I’ll be getting it (from my aunt, who it was passed down to). A family friend of ours has a couch that is over 50 years old. It’s been recovered a few times to match the fashion trends, but it’s still in excellent condition, looks amazing, and will be passed down to their kids.
$300 is a lot for a waterproof jacket, but if it’s really good, lasts a long time, and you spend a lot of time outside in the rain, then it might be worth it.

Agreed. My Razer mouse has been working fine for many MANY years. Enough to see where my finger has tapped the button deep into the plastic and it will likely last another decade +.
I use the fucker for 50/ hrs week.

Don’t forget to take the ball out to clean the interior rollers.

Just about any cowboy boots would do, although I would suggest a pair that have a rubber Vibram like sole for your intended use.
Cowboy boots are designed to handle things like snakes. Source

No sole is BIFL, but there are plenty of BIFL shoes/boots. Look for Goodyear Welted and high quality leather uppers for BIFL shoes. My go to brand is Grant Stone

Still have my boathouse from playing lacrosse in highschool. I don’t wear it anymore but it definitely looks as good as the day I got it.

I’m also a cheapo and just wash out the hairs from the filter and refill it with an scented oil & rubbing alcohol solution. I figured that alone would have killed it prematurely. NOPE!

Ditto on the Braun 7 Series. Best electric razor I’ve ever bought.

Thanks for chiming in with additional info, still trying to learn more about heat pumps as this is something I’ve been installing more of as an electrician.
Living in the northeast US it says natural gas is my best opinion. So at what temperature range does the heat pump become the better option?

I’m definitely in the same boat. For flip flops, I do have a recommendation though! Sanuk Yoga Joy are by far the most comfortable flip flops I’ve ever bought.
