I have a Mirra 2 for a bit cheaper than the Aeron, and it's also fantastic. (My work had Mirra 1's and I knew I loved them!) I wasn't sure about recommending for OP since they asked for cushion... But I do love my HM.

OP, if mesh isn't on the table, still check if Herman Miller has any options with materials you like. My husband also didn't love the butt support on one of his chairs before we got the HM's, and he got a pillow from Purple. They're fairly affordable, but excellent support.

Are people really sending darn tough socks back for replacements? I have a few pairs that are four years old and contemplated sending them back. Honestly smartwool socks held up a bit better during my puppy’s teething stage.

I have a Roomba-style recommendation actually; really any of the Eufy Robovacs.

If you can shell out for the more expensive one that maps your home (& can mop but not the best at that) you can just set it to a schedule & it’ll make sure to get all zones on a regular basis as it resumes where it left off. Obviously you’ll have to do more in-depth cleaning of the rugs regularly, but in my house (2 adults, 2 shepherd breed dogs) it takes our vacuuming/sweeping down from once every 2 days to just touching up the carpets once a week.

We have had to troubleshoot & repair it once ourselves as some dog hair got past a filter & was blocking where the air comes back out, but it was very easy & they have well-made tutorial videos on their website as the end of troubleshooting click-throughs. Also the units are very easy to do maintenance cleans on (getting trapped hair out of the brushes & such) & all of the brushes & filters have easily found replacements for when they wear down.

I had a Dyson V10, worked well, but after about three years, the battery quit holding a charge. The filters have to be changed frequently. Disclaimer, I did use every day, live off a dirt road, and have 3 dogs.

If you think calling a set of observations over time is an "anecdote" ok, but I disagree. It's objective evidence. My clothes are fine. There is nothing more to say. I didn't say every Speed Queen is the same as mine. But I have yet to see an owner say their clothes were torn up.

Nah. VWR makes the sonicators in some of the labs I've worked in and they sell certain models for around $500 new. Finding those used at university surplus stores is a treat. The bottom line is that beyond the toys that clean glasses and jewelry, there's a huge market for ultrasonic parts cleaners and so they can be found cheap second hand.

VWR is the brand I've seen in some labs but the fact is most of these things are pretty identical. Simple models are $500 new, but used can be had cheap.

Keep your eye on eBay for a variable heat ultrasonic heater. If its covered in plastic and claims to clean jewelry, it's a toy. You're looking for an all-metal case with a simple metal basin. The simpler the better.
