I almost mentioned this, too.
Just didn't wanna information-overload the poor guy. It's a big world out there.

I have 4 heatpumps in my place a big one 8kw in the lounge and small ones in 3 bedrooms. To supplement log fires.
They don't really like very cold weather, and will go into defrost cycle if below -4 degrees C, which means they blow cold air and gurgle for 10 minutes until they start up warm again.
They do need servicing every year or so and checking on the refrigerant levels.
They are surprisingly convenient and cheap to run.
They are a bit noisy, and need be sited to blow air indirectly at beds.
They are aircon for summer too, and work well to cool the house down.
They don't work in power-cuts, so if you have winter black-outs you are out of luck
Ive only had them in for 3 years so can't comment on longevity.
I like them, but would have preferred a radiator system, but that would be $50k where I live. I looked at central air/heat, but you need more ceiling space than I have, and the cost was prohibitive. little heat pumps with simple back to back installation are not super expensive. Should have done it years ago.

I have a pretty inexpensive Galanz microwave that runs an inverter. It's amazing!
It may be a cheaper Panasonic inverter model in a new skin, idk. Because from what I understand they do seem to have the monopoly on the inverter market.

Soup? Hot water?

Hear me out: ditch the microwave, you don't actually need it. Get a smart convection toaster oven with dials (ie Breville). And I say this as a parent of multiple kids: you don't need a microwave in life.

Most comfortable ones I have are surplus Airforce boots - they are super comfy, and have composite caps - because flyboys and girls are soft! You might want to try that angle too, i've had mine for nearly 20 years, and still going strong

I am on a Jim Green kick at the moment, good prices direct from South Africa, and very well made. Proper goodyear welts too. I have 3 pairs, just got their steelcaps. They are pull on and have good insoles.

You are discounting other options, let's not do that. You can get a microwave...they are all rather BIFL by nature so pick one and buy it. They make toaster ovens in 894 different flavors and sizes that bake, toast, broil, air fry, etc., that can be used alongside a microwave. With a convection microwave you get two things: Microwave and oven. With a microwave and say a Ninja FT301, you get 12 appliances.

I can be your partner for this idea. I’ll give you credit if you want or we can do the 50/50 thing
tosernameschescksout t1_jcinvef wrote
I was thinking it'd make sense to have a BIFL store. One physical and online store, BIFL products only, fuck the prices because it's BIFL. Prove to our economy that there is strong demand for products that are engineered to last and be repairable.
