Miele. They are designed for a minimum 20 year life, they commit to providing parts and servicing, they function extremely well, they are quiet and they are very well featured. I have two in my main kitchen and a third in my prep area (this one is twenty years old) and they have never skipped a beat. All my appliances are Miele. The only item that has ever needed servicing was a dryer, which had a minor repair after 12 years. You only need to compare their appliances side by side on construction quality with Bosch to see there is, in fact, no comparison. The glass and steel door on a Miele washing machine is a thing of beauty compared to everyone else’s plastic.

I don't care for brands. Usually, things will last years when well-cared for. Follow care instructions, and if that info tag fades, go with cold water and a trusty detergent. When a hole appears, or a stitch becomes loose, mend it ASAP before it becomes a big issue.

“At some point in the last two years, I got a renewed interest in playing records. I'd had turntables before, and I had a box of records that I'd been carting around since high school. I always knew in the back of my head that records had more integrity than digital music. I went to interview Jack White at his place in Nashville, and he's a real analog guy. He had these Mackintosh tube amps, and I got hung up on the idea of getting a tube amp, but the ones Jack had were $15,000. There was no way I could spend that kind of money on stereo equipment and enjoy it; I'd always be thinking, does this sound like $15,000? I don't think so.”

Darn Tough, Duluth Trading, Red Wing, Magellan, Teva, and old-school Columbia gear are the only things I can endorse as part of the 8+ yr club.

I guess Henschel hats and a few Carhartt items have also made.it that long but the hat hardly gets worn and the new Carhartt stuff is shit. Columbia is the same way, old stuff is amazing, then they became a lifestyle brand and it went to hell.

Keep in mind I'm a big ol grizzly bear of a dude who does outdoor and extreme sports and works a blue collar job, so I'm putting this shit through the crucible.

Marc Maron said on his podcast once he has wanted one of these his whole life. He goes to hang out with Jack White and Jack has 50 of em. He thinks to himself well if Jack has 50 of em surely I can afford one. Ran down to record store, realized he couldn’t and bought something else(can’t remember what he got).
