Thanks. Well, high-quality bulbs can last a lifetime, if not longer.

I keep things simple. That being said, I own and still wear Levi's from 9 years ago. It's more about clothing care than quality.
Also, in my opinion, BIFL shouldn't pertain to clothing because significant weight gain can throw that idea out of the window.

-Ack! Star of Bethlehem is a voracious and horrid invasive. (I guess it is BIFL, because you’d never get rid of it.) Listed in the Invasive Plant Atlas of the US. Known to be especially bad in the Mid-Atlantic, displacing native spring ephemerals and other ornamentals. Very difficult to remove after planting due to their vigor. (Source: a ton of research after I transplanted the pretty little white flowers from abandoned lot to my garden before looking them up, removing them “all” two months later, and have been fighting them for years since.) Please don’t plant Star of Bethlehem!
-Why avoid Breck’s? (She asked while waiting for the Breck’s bulbs she put in last fall to come up…)

This is certainly something to consider, I wonder if theres an app I can get for my PC so it'd only be active when I need it.

Why not use the money to get each of your future kids a hope chest? It's a basic kind of thing that can be repurposed in many ways, isn't so huge that taking it while moving will be an issue, and it won't be hard to find or make one with quality wood.

Vinegar soak = straight or diluted? Ratio? Assuming white vinegar, right? Dawn/H2O2 spray ratio? Thanks!

Tangerine is nice too. Light scent, not overwhelming. Actually works!

Good work. You won’t regret it. I don’t know anyone who has bought Miele appliances who regretted it. In the kitchen the only possible upgrade would be to go to commercial grade appliances. For domestic applications they are perfect.

really depends what kinda dog you have. bully breeds tend to totally obliterate their toys, we usually just give ours cow bones to chew on since they're the only thing that lasts

I've had a sweater for 4 years now and it feels like I just got it broken in. I love it. I bought my wife a blanket for our anniversary last year and it's just as amazing. they are expensive but now that I've experienced the longevity of them I can justify the price. (also look for the sales! the blanket was 30% off because the size was discontinued)

I second Pendleton. They've been around since 1863 for a reason. Expensive, but with them you get what you pay for. Also, there's a reason humans have been making clothing out of wool for thousands of years.

I've heard of some people finding the hourly chiming drives them nuts after awhile. If you haven't had an hourly chime clock in your lifetime maybe an app would be good to see if it meshes well with you before investing in a real clock. Just an idea as someone who knows someone who literally ripped out a clock in the wall of an air bnb lol.

Why not put that same money into a 529 account and say, "Grandma wanted you to not suffer with student loans as much or at all, here's your 529"? Buying a chair with grandma's money doesn't magically make it grandma's chair. Plus, I could list about 100 chair types/brands which would make your head spin. If you want a chair, get a chair, but a 529 account is more practical than a chair with no physical attachment to Grandma other than using inheritance money to purchase it. This post is practical and not emotional or mean.

I do a 50/50 ratio of vinegar and lukewarm water although you could probably get away with less vinegar. And more? Ive done straight vinegar for old ass pit stains on an amazing white vintage piece. I’m talking 50 year old sweat here. For the dawn and h202 is about the same 50/50, but I have a few different processes. General and new stains I use my spray bottle technique, straight h202 and the dawn is pretty heavily concentrated soap to water. Like 2 tablespoons soap and 2/3 cup of water something like that. It’s usually perfectly effective. If it’s more stubborn or I have a batch of clothes with more serious stains I take a bowl and make a mixture of soap and h202 and apply the mixture right into the stain, (again about 50/50) rubbing it in to let it sit. I use a toothbrush. For whites and really stubborn stains you can add baking soda, however the baking soda can turn that mixture into a bleaching agent so if you’re using colors you want to be mindful of how long you let it sit, start with 5 minutes and work your way up from there. Then, vaguely by color (sorry for all this detail lol I’m sure you won’t be washing clothes in an assembly line like I do but now that I’ve started I can’t stop) I soak them in a tub of lukewarm water for however long before washing and rinsing normally. I line dry a lot because actually the sun helps remove stains too believe it or not! And it’s gentler on vintage and the environment. Welp now you’re ready to start your own laundry service hope that helps
