I agree, they aren’t the most comfortable, that’s why mine lasted so long. I wear them occasionally. When you wear Hoka One One daily, then put the Docs on, well my feet love the Hokas. Lol

I have a core I bought years ago but the barometer crapped out on me on year 2. I wonder if Suunto would fix it for me? Anyone have experience with their service department? Any good?
I did like the watch while it was working. The barometer was critical for me, it served as my main weather alert when hiking in the mountains.
I also have their mc-2 global compass which again, is amazing in design but a bubble developed in it again after 2 or 3 years, making it tough to use properly.
I feel like Suunto is great at design but in terms of longevity/BIFL either I have just been unlucky or the long term quality just isn't there.

I love and hate this watch. I’ve worn it every day for 3 years now and it’s really taken a beating. Had to replace the original band with a nato strap, but it looks better anyway.
I love the features. The compass and altimeter are a lot of fun to use, and helpful when spending a lot of time outdoors. I also like the black background with white characters. An aesthetic thing, but I dig it.
I hate the buttons. They are so slow to respond it becomes quite annoying. Especially the chrono start/stop/reset. I use the chrono function multiple times/day for fitness or cooking things. More annoying than a deal breaker. I won’t buy another watch until I succeed in breaking this one

Most are made in China, but some are still made in England. I have no idea on the quality though, because my feet are just not made for them (quite painful).

They are more challenging, but with the interwebs, all things are possible.

Here’s my Panasonic ER411 nose hair trimmer. I’ve had it for like 25 years. Turn it on, cram it up your nose, and mow away. I think I’ve changed the batteries maybe twice. Truly a buy it for life product!

Did you cut the block of wood with the band saw? full circle.

Yeah, ask a cobbler to resole your Docs. Good luck! I asked at least five different cobblers and nobody was willing to resole Docs.

You might need to true the wheels. I've got one in the garage and my memory is there are little weights on the wheels to balance them, kind of like a car tire.

Yup. I see these posts and think, "Nice. Now if only I could go back in time to purchase one of these, or to tell my family so I could inherit it. Thanks for the tip!"

I have had a pair of 1461s for the last 8 years and they are perfectly fine. When I purchased a new pair 3 years ago, they only lasted me 1.5 years and literally fell apart. No hate on the brand, just suggesting an alternative. Just telling by the quality of leather and stitching I feel this is a more premium product in comparison. Time will tell whether it translates to durability.

Wish I could help, but I don't have a of experience with band saw maintenance or troubleshooting. Mine happened to run well when I purchased it a few month back

Yep... I picked up an extra set of Craftsman screwdrivers recently to throw in a truck tool box... I was astounded at how crappy they are now compared to my old set.

It really is... I have a warranty too but I have to pay $75 for the initial service calls, so it's not as bad as it could be. I just wish companies would stop with the planned obsolescence stuff and make a decent product again. Though the suggestions of Miele, Maytag, and Speed Queen have definitely peaked my interest.

Dr. Martens are still made in England. Their quality is good.
Having said that, they...like many brands...have overseas fashion models under their brand which people ignorantly buy and get SuperMAD when they realize they aren't tanks. For example, their English 1460s are $260 and the overseas ones are $170 and to the normal consumer that makes a decision in .002 seconds they won't see this to stop and consider.
Now, zero people would consider Dr. Martens to be still in their killer, last 200 years heyday. But the internet, being a fickle beast, is mostly wrong about Dr. Martens as its a tale of two cities: Made in England versions and made overseas versions with a hat tip to the English versions. Will they last you 20 years? Probably not. Will they last you 300% longer than Mr. Dartens from Target? Yep.

Used to be my dedicated brand. Have found that every shirt I have purchased from them recently has failed well before when I should have expected it to. Switched to Smartwool.

You can resole Dr. Martens and they are actually sewn together, Solovair are just attached more traditionally.
