I agree on this, but you’re the first to mention a firearm or knife on this thread (other than one Swiss army I think)
If that was the case then the Remington 700 30-06 is my oldest item I think.
Papaw bought it for my Dad when he turned 18. So it’s now over 60 years old. I love the rifle but hate shooting it because of the recoil. I refuse to modify it with a new butt pad like a Limbsaver because it will mess up the original condition.

Mohawk furniture polish is my go-to. It's a little pricey, but totally worth it. They also have scratch hider spray that works amazingly well. It saved me from having to replace $30k worth of cabinets.

Huh TIL. Can you expand on what issues the silicone causes?

Regular old English contains silicone, you don't want to use that, because it will cause refinishing issues even decades down the line.

I have this one too, by far the best for potatoes.
They probably can be sharpened but the blade part 1 one whole fixed piece.
I prefer Y shaped peelers for stuff like carrots.

Where is it this type of stuff typically gets sold that's still around? Doesn't need to be pretty just as long as it cuts

9mm beretta 92fs. Bought it on my 21st birthday and im 56 now. Put 10k multiple rounds through it with no issues.
Also have a case pocketknife that my grandfather bought back around 1920 that i still use regularly. Works great still.
Amazing that it appears to be firearms and knives that last the longest.

Yeah i bought a spyderco law enforcement years ago fir 30 bucks on ebay, had some wear on it. But it holds a razor sharp edge still and i use it precisely for the kind of stuff you mention. When it needs it, hones right up.

What is important to note here though is that some appliance makers, like Kitchenaid, make cheaper versions of some of their stuff that gets sold at some of the bigger box stores at large discounts. Like the stand mixers. Some of the models that seem the same but are kind of inexplicably way cheaper, that can be because some had plastic instead of metal gearing, or less strong motors.

Honestly Old English cabinet polish did wonders for our poorly maintained hand me down piano (and came recommended by the tuner, so seems unlikely it would mess too much with sound/tone/humidity for more delicate pieces). Easy to find in a hardware store, I would recommend this if you want to keep some of the antique look (ie not completly sand down/refinish) but still want to even out color and tone.
