The lenses are fantastic and the overall build quality is absurd. I've got a more modern Leica and if I dropped it I'd be more concerned about damage to the floor.

That looks like the coolest stove/oven ever!

The oven doors slide straight up. I don't disagree with a lot of what you said, but it's just the charm, design, and build quality that do it for me.

I've been buying Altama jungle boots for 20 years. It's basically a breathable combat boot. I generally wear them out after 5 years of regular use from sole wear.

I use these one of these (1950's dutch army model) as a grocery and one as a work bag, they do start to show signs of wear after roughly 2 decades of semi daily use, I wax them with straight paraphene candlesticks to make it rain resistant, but they do get quite stiff from that.

An 1880/1890 sewing machine that my grandmother inherited, not sure from whom, I use it to lockstitch thick layers of leather and leather like material that my normal (electric) sewing machine can't handle. I found a box of needles for it at a junk sale a while back for a good price, I modify them a little bit with a dremel to turn them in to leather optimized needles.
If I don't count books and decorate objects, my second oldest item that I activly use is a brownie box model 2b analog camera from 1917/1920, incredibly simple and cheap made design, nothing that can break on it. It was the first mass available camera at the time costing only 4$ film is still available pretty much everywhere and with advances in film it works better than it did in the day.

By taking it apart and comparing them with other electric tools? Its not some new technology, its just an electric motor and some gears.

Kitchen design in general has atrophied and rotted since the '50s and '60s. There were so many functional ingenious innovations that didn't go anywhere because of cost or profit.

I have one of the freestanding Frigidaire Flair’s. I inherited it and use it daily. Works like a charm.

Look at Thursday’s boots. My wife has a couple of pairs of boots from them and really likes them. Her oldest pair is about 4 years old.

Oh don't forget the oven door directly above the hobs, so if you're boiling anything you'll get a wonderful spa treatment on your arm

Reply to SPEED QUEEN WASHERS; Are they worth it? Which model would be recommended for a large family, which does multiple loads of laundry a day. Doesn’t have to be fancy. It seems people choose SQ for their reliably, and quality, not because of the bells and whistles, or lack thereof… Thanks for any input!! by KaiBaird
We bought our SQ about 10 years ago when our old washer crapped out. We asked the repair guy what brand he never has to fix. SPEED QUEEN. We got the most basic model (pretty sure it was the then-current commercial grade) Zero bells and whistles. (Which are the things that tend to break) It fits a king sized comforter. 10 years strong in a family of 4. No services calls on it yet. :)

As far as electrics stoves go, that all sounds kind of fantastic. Is it also like OPs seems to be, where there is normal counter storage beneath?

I am thinking these ones the most. They have some in her style and they are of the cheaper options.
