I LOVE my stainless steel french press so much it is easily my favorite thing in my kitchen because it gets used every day and I don't have to worry about it breaking. 10/10 switch to one of these if you can.

It's ready to go as in ready to cook.

Are you using a burr grinder? That should prevent any grounds getting through with a coarse setting. All of the grounds would be the same size, and too large to make it through.

Mine isn't insulated. I just pour the coffee into a thermos after pressing it. The coffee snobs say it's better not to steep the grounds longer than around five minutes or so anyway because it allegedly increases bitterness for people who are genetically unlucky enough for coffee to taste bitter at all.

By “ready to go” do you mean you’re ready to get rid of it, or it’s ready to operate right now?

I did break my ceramic coffee cup with it the other day.

All stainless is the way to go in my opinion. My friend's break about eight glass ones a year and I've had my stainless one since around 2002 with no problems. It's actually from a Starbucks the ones that they use not the ones that they sell. My manager friend gave it to me when I moved.

Buy a cotton coverlet from Kohls. They’re light and stiff enough that they don’t cling to you and make you too hot. Make sure it’s cotton.

Oh hell yes I can. Easily.

I second fiestaware.
Watch for sales both second hand and at Macy's. FiestaFactoryDirect is a good site to buy from and they have a place setting tool for you to see what colors you want.

Metal has mich higher thermal capacity though. So it can keep way more energy in it. It absolutely cools slower than glass given they're the same volume, temperature and shape.

Sounds like a plan. I can’t imagine them not getting softer though! Mine are so comfy and not scratchy at all.

Looks great, but will it shatter violently when I barely tap it on the sink when cleaning? That always wakes me right up.

Ooooh we have an enameled cast iron oval dutch oven and I LOVE that thing. It was only $25 at Aldi's and looks exactly like a le cruset 5qt oval copycat. We have a long 5th burner on the stove top too so we use it on the stove top or in the oven. Also take it camping and use it on the propane stove top too. Best $25 I ever spent.

I don't think I'd classify them as crisp, but I find them quite cool and I live in a pretty hot muggy climate. No, they're not silky soft, but they're not rough either. These aren't for everyone, but I enjoy the texture and think it's the perfect weight for me. I can't speak for how BIFL they are, I've only had mine a couple of years. So far they have held up beautifully!

It's definitely an art/hobby thing these days, but there's a whole new wave of young people that seem to be fascinated by analogue cameras. Even Polaroid revivals are a thing with some. It's weird. :)
