I can’t claim to know everything there is to know about boots but depending on your use purpose I’ve enjoyed my Jim Greens. They have Chelsea boots which sound like what you’re looking for. They have a wider toe box than most boots on the market so I’ve found them more comfortable than other boots I’ve worn. If you’re trying to go for walks in the bush you may want that. Do your research on them anyways and good luck.

I’ve had both Brooks (Revel) and ASICS (Excite) in recent years. I found the brooks to be comfortable, however it doesn’t take long for them to wear holes by my pinky toe, even after sizing up a half size. I think this is because of the narrow toe box. I’ve found the ASICS Gel Excite have a wider toe box and look and feel good ever a year later with regular use. I got a light color so I just throw them in the wash every once in a while and they come out looking great.

I recently got a pair of Brooks and they are very comfortable, perhaps the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned.

Granted, they are the only pair of sneakers I’ve bought in many years, so I don’t have a lot to compare to. I was a competitive runner in high school about 20 years ago, and my Brooks are immensely more comfortable than any running shoe I tried back then.

If you're willing to stalk Craigslist and yard/estate sales there are a lot of vintage kitchen aid mixers out there since they were a standard wedding gift for about half a century. Honestly, any stand mixer (regardless of brand) that looks like it came out of your grandmother's kitchen will probably be superior to most consumer mixers sold today.

Sunbeam, Frigidaire, and Kitchenaid all made really good mixers before about 1980.

The downsides are the price, although their durability makes it worthwhile. Also, they’re stickier than rubber so most come with RainX type wipes to make the glass more slick. Just repeat treatment when you notice them sticking again (visible as skipping when they change direction).

Clean my thermos? Clearly you overestimate me.

But yeah, it's a complicated equation based on how hot you need your coffee stay, how likely you are to use a thermos, and how much you want to spend.

Note: when the press/thermos gets to the point of being embarrassingly dirty, Astonish: Clean and Revive gets rid of all the scum with no effort. It's overpriced so I don't use it very often, but that stuff is incredible when it comes to cleaning old coffee/tea residue.

Yeah, Chelsea boots. Goodyear welted. Google it and take your pick! There'll be variations in style from the little pixie style my wife has, to the bovver boots useful for building sites and kicking fascists. Blundstone is generally regarded as very serious. Leather boots last long, longer if you take proper care of them (there's a WHOLE other sub devoted to that...) Not sure how long the elastic would last... or how easy to repair.

As the owner of a film lab, please please please don’t go to a CVS or Walgreens or Walmart. They will not give your film the treatment it deserves. Support a local/smaller lab that actually cares about your film and returns your negatives.

Also, Amazon is horrible for buying film, they’re normally overpriced and the storage conditions of film are not ideal. Film should be refrigerated before sale and Amazon definitely doesn’t do that.

Check out www.brooktreefilmlab.com if anyone is interested in more info!

Silicone wiper blades negate all these problems. I’ve had a pair through three Flagstaff summers (high elevation, high UV) and two winters (150 inches of snow this season). I’ve parked in direct sun and ripped them off frozen windshields and they’re still like new.
