Got my first pair this winter season, live at 9k’ elevation and the boots are shredded at the heel and around the footbed. Seems like poor quality materials and will need to replace after 4 months but they have been essential in big snow

I figured I would show off my rOtring 600 collection. Daily use...you can see which one I carry in my pocket and keep with me everyday by the amount of "character". Both of the the pens have Fisher Space Pen inserts with blue ink (medium tip on the blue pen, fine tip on the black one). My lead holder collection started out with the Mars technico 780 and when I sat on one wrong and broke it I decided to try the rOtring 600.

I use Brooks running shoes (Ghost 14 right now, probably Glycerine would be better for wearing all day long though - max cushion).

Another max/cushion shoe to consider is the New Balance Fresh Foam X More v4. It’s supposedly the king of superfoam running shoes these days.

BEST PEN EVER! And you’re lucky, you must have one with the concave clicker. Some years ago they switched the clicker from concave to convex and that really bummed me out. Because there’s no better way to pass the time at boring meetings then by trying to stand upright your pen. And the convex clickers won’t balance. But I have gotten better at standing my pen on the tip, so I’ve got that going for me. And this pen also doubles as a hood prying device when you need a little tool to pry something open. Such a great pen, I’ve seriously thought of getting it as a tattoo.

Visit an REI store if there's one nearby. Tell them what you need. Off the top of my head, look at: Oboz, Danner, Hoka One One.

Edit: if you really want buy it for life, look at resoleble-able shoes or boots. The only ones I can think of immediately are the Danner boots.

Brooks are fine, they have a lot of people who love them. Not my personal favorite. I've been wearing new balance beacon and they last a while and are comfortable. A few women at the hospital swear by hookah shoes for comfort and etc. Ive been tempted to try a pair for a while.

I used to also buy the $10 discount shoes at Walmart before I "knew better". Comfortable shoes are really important... I took a pair of memory foam shoes to boot camp and it was miserable hell. Not only was the memory foam not comfortable to begin with but within a few days it just became a bunch of lumps that wouldn't retain foot shape. Anyways, now I spend about $80-120 on shoes and aim for sales or last season models.

None of these shoes will be buy it for life though. Taking care of them will stretch out their life but running shoes most likely won't hold up forever. Make sure they dry off if they become damp. Mine break the most after getting damp from a run and not drying enough.

I recommend buying furniture covers and using them! Classic accessories Ravenna has some affordable covers that actually have a lifetime limited warranty. I essentially order new covers ever year because the covers do breakdown in the sun/weather. Never had any hassle getting covers replaced (other than delayed supply chain stock), just got a replacement grill cover that i bought almost 7 years ago.
