I recently paid of a car loan as well. I received a letter from the loaner releasing the lien and received my title a week to 10 days later.
You do not need to go to DMV. The website states that your title is good as is. Grats on the pay off.

Sure. Let me get to my computer. Brb I found it yesterday since we just paid off our vehicle this week too.
https://portal.ct.gov/dmv/vehicle-services/vehicle-title-service?language=en_US
It's highlighted in red/orange
" Please note
If
your loan has been satisfied, you don’t need to request a new
certificate of title removing the previous lienholder. You may retain
the stamped paid certificate of title from your lienholder. This title
can be used for the future sale or transfer of the vehicle."
Nope. Paid off my last car, got the title. Traded that car in after a year with the same title.
You should receive the title in the mail automatically

Lol... glad I could help.

I was able to sell my car no problem with the release of Liens box filled out by the bank.
It's functionally equivalent to a clear title.
