Housing already prices seem down 10-20% from the high. Tanking may not happen as it did in 2008 recession as housing values is what fueled that recession. Most people aren’t underwater on their mortgages and won’t be able to find anything with the prices at 7% interest when they were getting them for 3. As you were saying payments are higher with higher by about 80%. So buying another house becomes less attractive cause home owners can’t get the house they have for the same payment. So volume may stay low. Price I think will slowly ease.

Make sure the gutters are clean. If they are not water overflows and seeps along the house. Basement Systems is a good company to help you fix the problem also. Good luck.

coming through my walls no, but with all the rain and warm temps water table is high and sump pump is working early.

New Haven, North haven area and marsh lands close by., drains around foundation downspout extensions out to curb for roof runoff.

Normally pump is quiet between summer and march.

Those guys are ridiculous! Motherfuckers wanted 20k, half up front and a 5 month wait time to start. They’d sell you the Taj Mahal if they could.

Off of a Reddit comment recommendation of someone who had a similar experience, we used Brilliant Basement waterproofing based out of Lisbon. They came down to us in upper Fairfield county.

Small business, really good people, about half the cost and they did a great job

  1. Of the 187 legislators, 178 have a job outside of their legislative position.

  2. In the state of Connecticut, it is against the law for an employer to deny leave to an elected representative serving in the legislature. Employers must excuse employees from work without any punitive action to employees who are elected to the state general assembly.

  3. The $40,000 salary is higher for most. If you serve in a leadership position (committee chair, vice chair, leader, whip, debuty speaker, speaker, etc) you get several thousand more dollars annually. All 36 state senators are in leadership and nearly have of the 151 state representatives are in leadership. State representatives also receive a travel stipend which can be worth several thousand more dollars, free meals, good healthcare, and a pension if they serve for ten years. Legislators also have access to a staff and a office at no charge.

If it's coming through the floor it's probably cause the water table is really high. Same thing happens at my house. There's a waterproof paint for basement floors you could put down to seal it. Not all that uncommon for older homes around here.

It’s not the best part or the worst. A little further down is called the Annex, walkable, parks along the water and less industrial.

Source: I worked in New Haven as an EMT for 6 years and grew up in the Cove/Annex area

It's a supply problem. Not a too high of demand for housing problem. People aren't moving because of high cost of housing and high interest rates. And they especially won't move if prices plummet and they're upside down on their loan by tens of thousands of dollars. Because of this there's few homes for sale. And it will continue to be this way until more housing is available.

The best thing you could do is just go there and spend some time and get a feel for it. One trick that I do is I ask the mail carrier. Nobody knows the area better than them

Go at night since it gets dark at 5:00. If you can't walk around at night, that's your answer

That's CT in a nutshell. See an airport, Google about dumb asses who moved next door then complain. Train idled for 150 years in some towns and every few years people say why do the trains make noise at night. Or become teachers and complain about education to pay ratio. The ones you don't hear about are the ones who buy a house on an old industrial dumping ground. They snap up a deal and quietly sell when half of them are mysteriously sick or have cancer. Welcome to ct
