Wilton’s close to trains at Westport and has great schools and a community culture. It’s much quieter than new Canaan or Darien and a good deal smaller. Navy blue in all ways. I moved here three years ago to join my partner, who is a long term resident. Low key and friendly but housing prices are bad.

My unsubstantiated claim: put unlimited free parking at every Metro-North station, and watch the world change. Eminent domain, nice tall parking garages, and run roughshod over local zoning regulations. I am not saying I support this, but it would be the fastest way to change things at the lowest cost.

I spent a career of starting work earlier, and then staying later (because the boss wouldn't let me leave early) just to avoid the traffic on 95 & 15. In general, the commutes were not terrible, but the 13 hour workday can wear you down after a couple of decades... also, you still gotta "fit in" between the end of nighttime lane closures in the AM and the beginning of same that night :(

I’m pretty sure that is going to be ignored. My family and I are planning on moving to CT from a red state because of this and other issues that the right wing is messing up (LGBT rights, education, etc).

I do wonder the statistics of people who are leaving red states for blue states. It has to be increasing. At least from personal experience I’m seeing it happen a lot and know people who are fed up and moving. That’s just personal experience, though.

I’m also a climate refugee. The narrative is that people leave Northern states for Southern states, but I think that’s far from the whole picture. Now, I, personally, am an oddball who likes the cold, but it isn’t purely that which is driving me away from the South. It’s also the crazy weather. The tornadoes, the drought, warm weather dominating winter, etc.

I’m utterly baffled by people moving to Florida. I think some of them are going to regret it, as it is increasingly prone to major natural disasters.

I had that same thing a whole lot more recently than a decade ago. I used to commute from Stratford to Meriden by MNR and Hartford rail. Between the two trains and layover, it was 2 hours one way, whereas it's about 45 minutes by car.

Tried to catch a bus to my first day of work in Hartford to save money compared to the train. Maybe this is just an outlier, but I got there 3 hours later than I was supposed to.

I know Wells Fargo does euros, pounds, and a few others, but I'm not sure if you have to be a member or not so you might want to call ahead and ask if there's a fee or if it's available to non members

How do you propose that we prevent already rich and powerful people from just collecting an extra 100K just for the hell of it? After all, a huge amount of your probability of winning a local election depends upon your ability to fund your candidacy, which is how we ended up with the oligarchical political class that we have.
