West Hartford is great. More expensive than East Hartford and Manchester, but you do get what you pay for. Manchester is a solid value though.

Newington and Rocky Hill are worth looking at for a higher value area.

If you don’t mind a bit of a commute, Middletown is great with a nice downtown, good restaurants, not far from shoreline, and very good value for money.

I’d also consider Southington, which has an up and coming vibe.

Ugh not fun. Accidents suck, I just had one a couple weeks ago and even though I wasn’t at fault it’s still so stressful. But cars can be replaced, people can’t! So that’s the best thing. But keep an eye on yourself and get checked out if you start noticing any soreness, sometimes it can take a few days for the pain to set in.

the second one. 😂 so, my band played a music event there over the holidays. totally lovely from start to finish. they fed us insanely delicious food, sent us to the most beautiful green room you could possibly imagine, with fancy teas and comfy furniture, the whole bit. and you would not believe how charming, sweet, and over-the-top helpful everyone was to us! i mean, it got to the point where i said something positive about it to my spouse and she goes, “that’s how they getcha!!!” 💯

honestly i don’t care how gorgeous the grounds are, I CAN’T GO BACK! i’m too susceptible to charm and delicious food and would totally be that person who accidentally joins a cult! 🤣

in all seriousness, the money issue is extremely suspicious and there is much written about this. status: CULT. or tax haven. either way… 🚩

Very vague description of what their whole purpose is besides some discussion about modern slavery. Some airy thing about interfaith dialogue. Then you come to reddit and find out it's connected with a Christian church and they have Sunday services for that church.

Maybe there isn't anything overly concerning going on here but it seems a little dishonest if their ultimate goal is to recruit you into the church by luring you in with tea and promises of interfaith dialogue that has no strings attached. At least the Mormons and JWs are honest about their intentions when they knock on your door.

And the FAQ clearly states that sporting goods are allowed, but no hard balls “that could break the glass”. I’m guessing that taking the side out of their glass serpentine building would result in not being asked back…

Manchester has good areas and less good areas. Just look around before you buy. I'm less familiar with East Hartford but it's probably the same. Glastonbury and West Hartford are on par with each other as far as the WASP-y definition of "nice" goes. I'd check out Windsor, Newington, Berlin, Middletown, South Windsor.

Traffic-wise, 84 East and West tend to jam up much more frequently than 91 North and South... for that reason if it were me, I'd stick to a town on 91.

I'm definitely in favor of body cams, but there are legitimate privacy concerns, especially if the footage is made public. The citizens with whom they interact have not consented to be recorded and may have a reasonable expectation of privacy.

They have to be implemented in the right way to meet both needs of police accountability and the general public's privacy.

Government propaganda and broadcast/social media manipulation of public opinion on the governments behalf is extremely powerful and effective. Combine that with extensive censorship of opposing opinions and you end up where we are today.

People should be asking why Connecticut police are exempt from our gun laws, and can still purchase an unlimited amount of assault weapons and high capacity magazines to keep at home for personal use.
