Perhaps I worded it poorly; when I said I wasn’t concerned with splitting those costs out, I meant in relation to this thread I wasn’t really going into that with my previous comments and was talking about cost to consumers as a whole/what’s the monthly bill. Not that generally speaking about the Eversource problem I’m not concerned. The approx $80 per bill increase they’re quoting isn’t sustainable for a whole lot of families in the state especially given ES ridiculous profits.

I have an account at both American Eagle Financial as well as Connex. Both offer good mobile services, and Connex offers convenient interactive teller service hours for banking needs that stretch beyond normal hours. Despite their smaller size, I am not ever treated like a number at either, and you get personal service when you walk in, rates are better, and service is better.

I havent used a mega bank in ten years, and I will never go back.

That’s one part of the statement and I completely understand that point and agree we should lessen our reliance on gas for our electricity generation.

But when Tong uses the phrase “we pay too much for our electricity in CT as it is and these rate hikes are nothing short of punishing”, I interpret that as “eversource is charging too much for their product (and screwing us) and there’s nothing we can do to really stop them.” He says in a subsequent sentence that they really don’t have ability to challenge supply rates. Maybe you have a different interpretation, that’s fine, I’m not trying to say you need to see it one way or another, that’s just how I interpret that statement.

It’s not like eversource doesn’t have a history of bad business practices: https://portal.ct.gov/AG/Press-Releases/2022-Press-Releases/AG-Tong-Announces-Settlement-with-Eversource-Over-Natural-Gas-Marketing-Allegations.

So I guess the logical question would be is why can’t Eversource be more heavily regulated by PURA or similar especially when it comes to profits vs rate increases? When they make incredible profits and then say “well we need to double supply rate overnight” and there is no control in place, that’s scary. All our states reps say that PURA basically has their hands tied, reviews are administrative only and have ‘no teeth,’ etc.

Some people went to games in good seasons, but the NHL, media, and Madison Avenue know, then and now, most of the state’s strongest hockey towns never really supported the Whalers (Fairfield and New Haven counties), some state corporations in Hartford county which once upon a time supported the Whalers subsequently shrunk in-state operations and/or moved HQs elsewhere, financial obstacles exist to build a competitive 21st century arena let alone even bring the outdated, architecturally-challenged up to snuff, etc.

ConEdison in Danbury. I used them when they were Ross Solar in 2015/16 something like that. Same place & people just a different name. They’re honest, upfront and stand behind their work. I highly recommend them to anyone considering solar.

Yes I love mine. Only had a few weeks. I definitely will get the fed credit. CT has tax credits too but I don't qualify. I just read through CT and Eversource there are two rebates. One is for charger (500 for install if wire upgrade is needed and 500 for chager) but I bought the Rivian charger and don't think it's on the list of eligible ones at least yet. There is also a rebate to sign up for.. up to 300 I'd you don't charge tour EV during peak events. You need a charger that can communicate with the network or whatever. I haven't read the deets yet as I am just getting started

I switched to Connex Credit Union back in September. Was not thrilled about about the M&T acquisition, and frankly, most big banks could do a lot better for their customers...

With that said, a lot of Credit Unions are smaller operations. Their hours and locations aren't always convenient, but you generally do get a more personal touch when you do walk in or call and talk to someone. You're definitely less of a "barcode/account no." than you would be at Bank of America or something.
If you're looking to buy a house than you should defiently ask whatever Credit Union you go with about rates...most of them can give their members (customers) killer rates on loans and mortgages.

Consider going solar if the conditions (daily sun on roof, relatively new roof, etc.) are right for you. You can put $1000 bucks down and have a monthly payment of $140 locked in forever (plus some money back every April if you over-produce)… or something to that effect.

Edit: not forever, but for 15 years and then free for the following 10-15 years.
