Not sure about overall cheaper, but Lyman Orchards will have their CSA sign ups soon. As far as local and in season produce it was really great last year! The regular farm store is not a bargain though

I haven’t had time to research what other farms in the area might offer CSA

It's not you. I'm early 40s married female who has lived here (New Haven area) all of her life except college, and I have no area friends. I did but...when your life experiences bring you down different roads, they don't want to hang out anymore (big one was them having kids, us not). We got a dog about a year ago but she is so shy around other dogs LOL so there went the "meet people via dog" idea! Work is hard bc I'm a manager...

We live in a town with few transplants (what someone else said on this post is correct lol, totally obvious here!), so it's hard when everyone on your street already has their group from freaking kindergarten...

We do the church thing but everyone our age has taken a hiatus due to covid and not wanting to expose their kids. Or hardly come bc of the kids. Or don't come to social things bc of their kids. Other people are OLD and have cliques (ridiculous at church)...or I worry that I'm not holy enough lol. I like all sorts of random shit/pop culture and feel like I'm going to stick out.

As I've told my therapist, I guess I'll wait to meet friends when I retire. Hopefully it'll be easier to try new things since I'll have more time and can meet people that way.

But I get where you're coming from, and it's hard to keep looking for people when you're doing a lot of work already. I admire your positivity!!

Edit2: clarification

Chester is adorable and has some great food and a brewery. You could see a show at Goodspeed and also check out Essex or Guilford centers. You could also stop at Fox Farm on the way from Lisbon. Grano Arso in Chester would be a great special occasion place. Madison Beach Hotel for drinks on water and then Bar Bouchee would be really nice too.

In New Haven, you could do an art museum trip, see a show, and a really nice dinner at somewhere like Olea, The Luke, Union League, Tavern on State, Fair Haven Oyster.

Oar and Oak Birdhouse has a good chicken sandwich too.

Anyways. I like spice too. Coromandel makes a wicked vindaloo that’ll melt your face. They are not bashful with spice. If you ask for hot, it’s going to be HOT.

Sherkaan has some really interesting spicy options.

Lao Sze Chuan Milford. Hot pot. They have a few things that are deadly. I’m sure Lin’s Kitchen in Orange too, but I haven’t ordered anything spicy there.

Tibetan Kitchen in New Haven.

Dew Drop Inn’s hottest wings are legit scary.

It’s not super spicy but I appreciate that Mezcal’s mole isn’t wimpy and spiceless. Ay Guey will make your food very spicy if requested.

Munchies has a good spicy chicken sub.

Nolo has a few good spicy pizza options. Next Door has a great buffalo chicken pizza.

Not about the spice necessarily, but Tacos Los Gordos are the best in the state.

York St Noodle House in NHV used to be my go to to clear a sinus infection.

I just got a Harman installed in a 1700 sq split level ranch and love it. The P43 model is what we went with and it sits almost right up against the wall.

Space wise there is a 2” gap from the back of the unit to the drywall and sits on a 36x36 bluestone which meets manufacturer recommendations and thus CT regulations. There’s a 2” pipe that goes straight out and up the side wall about 3’ up on the outside. Total cost installed was just under $6400. Keeps the living room where it’s installed at around 72 f and the back rooms about 67 f on medium heat. I burn exactly one bag over a 20 hr period. This is roughly in 25-30 degree external temps so it’ll vary depending on weather and of course house insulation. Cost wise I am running a killawatt device to measure cost and it’s only showing about $20 month usage based on Eversource effective rate of about $.35 kWh which I think might be low. Pellet fuel runs about $210 per month give or take.

Overall I’m very pleased because I can keep the whole house liberally warmer at lower cost. My ROIC is roughly 4 years. After that I should be saving an extra $200 month.

Very similar. Guilford is a little more spread out and laid back. Madison is a bit more preppy.

Madison has better beaches. Guilford is more rolling and scenic.
