At 39, I moved to city where I didn’t know a soul besides my husband. Meetup was a lifeline. I joined meetups for just about anything that sounded appealing. Some were duds, a few resulted in friendships that continue. And all of them got me out of the house, and my own head, for a few hours.

Who does it say deposited the money?

>Over 248,000 people applied to the program before the Oct. 1 deadline, but only 156,000 workers qualified for benefits.

>In November, lawmakers voted to add $30 million to the fund and bring the total to $105 million.

>More than 66,000 people who make $50,000 or less each year will receive the full $1,000 bonus, while applicants with higher incomes will get significantly smaller amounts. The program covers a wide range of employees, including health care workers, teachers and firefighters.

That's legit triple what you would've gotten had they not reduced the pool so much...Be grateful

I’ve seen people have a lot of success with posting things similar to this in local town Facebook groups.

Similarly, meetup.com is a great resource. Or if sports are your thing, most towns have adult sports leagues where you can meet new people and break up the monotony. Good luck!

Not just you. My husband and I moved here in 2016, and haven't made any friends. I have a lot of what they call weak social connections via walking my dog, but none of those have actually turned into friendships. Everyone is either way younger than us, or just established in their own friend groups. Can get pretty lonely sometimes.

My mother grew up there. I remember visiting my grandparents and how beautiful it was. West Haven has nice beaches, but the crime and street racing is out of control. I am afraid to ride my bike here.
