YES. Definitely have it checked for asbestos. Almost guarantee it will have it in it. Anything past 1990 is usually safe.

On July 12, 1989, EPA issued a final rule banning most asbestos-containing products.
I think OP is safe. Regardless I would still wear a mask when I scraped it off just because there is still particulate matter that can cause respiratory irritation. Keeping the ceiling as wet as possible without wetting too much to damage the drywall is important.

If the springs are not adjusted properly the grease problems suggested can make a big difference.
The ideal spring adjustment is so the door is roughly neutral when 1/2 open. I.e. the door will stay in the mid position without manually holding it (with the door opener disconnected)

I've been told (I have yet to confirm) that at least in the EU, when terminating stranded into a screw terminal, ferrules are required.
(Ferrules are wonderful in this regard - they let you get the flexibility of stranded wire, but as far as termination is concerned, stranded with a ferrule crimped on it may as well be solid.)

Measure 3-4 times and make sure you're "looking" at the panel and placing the measurements correctly, front vs back or top vs bottom.

A 1/2" hole in the flange isn't going to compromise the sink's structural integrity regardless of what that wood strip is doing.

10 pounds or about 4.5 kilos is what I'm planning on being able to put on the shelf, if even. Bunches of small rocks under a couple ounces, and a big deer antler that's 11.5 ounces/ 0.3 a kilo.

How about I skip the shelf and just glue the knick knacks to the wall?

A deer antler and some rocks are the heaviest thing I'm thinking about putting on it. I'm kind of a nature person...
The rocks are mostly less than 100 grams or 3.5 ounces, but two are around 300 grams or 10.5 ounces. The antler is 325 grams/ 11.5 ounces or so. If they fall, I'll just be picking up rocks I guess.

Pfft love it. I have tons of them laying around from other stuff, I considered it until I realized I want to put rocks on it.

Yeah this is just for knick knacks! Heaviest thing might be a couple of rocks that weigh... At most a couple of rocks less than 100 grams each/3.5 ounces. There's some other things that are lighter than that too.
Oh and a deer antler, forgot about that. That weighs 11.5 ounces/325 grams. So maybe 10/4.5 kilos pounds tops?

If you check the photos it doesn't look like there are any screw holes on the actual shelf.

Really, just some knick knacks. The heaviest thing is probably some rocks I've picked up that are smaller than my palm of my hand, and I have small lady hands.
So maybe 10 pounds, tops. Can't see going anywhere near 20.

I've used window film in many houses/rentals. (I like the foggy-looking kind but also have some striped varieties of window film). Moisture has not been an issue for the film at all, just be sure to apply it to a CLEAN window surface and use a spray bottle (and maybe a squeegee) to get all the air bubbles out upon installation. It can be a pain to trim so be sure to use a sharp razor blade.

This happened to me recently. Figured out my rollers were getting stuck and basically acting as a brake in the roller track. Replaced the rollers, no issues anymore.

Looking at putting a sash on a piece briefly, I do like that idea. I do have this grand vision of a huge beautiful window though. I’m realizing I may have to adjust it now.

How much weight are you putting on this shelf, it won’t take much, but if light stuff, then! Try and find one stud, take 10 d common nails, not finished, nail them to the wall at about a 45 degree angle. I had that type of shelf in the past. It has holes in the back for hanging. Hang it so that the heads of the nails are in the holes. A little off level, gently tap the shelf on one side or the other.

What would be the right way to install the curtain? I suppose the curtain must be inside the shower pan and go all the way to the bottom?

You're over thinking this a bit.
Yes you can get through the quartz with a diamond/carbide grit hole saw. Then just buy a bi-metal hole saw to get through the stainless. The Milwaukee hole saws are home depot are good for ~20 holes in 18 gauge stainless. The trick is to not let the stainless get too hot and work harden. Use the lower speed on your drill, medium pressure, and spray some WD40 onto the metal as you're cutting. DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON THE HOLE SAW with a harbor freight or some other janky brand.
It sounds like you have an undermounted sink right? Make sure you don't put too much pressure on the flange then, so it doesn't buckle under the pressure of your drill.
You got this!!
