This will sound nuts but spray a little water on the popcorn and then it should scrape right off it is messy but it was fast to get it down. I found a dust pan in one hand to scrape it into with the other hand using a cheap plastic scraper worked the best, but ours was never sealed and the kids in bunk beds would run fingers and toes and what all across the ceiling cause it was right there....popcorn had to go

The comments here that mention protect the room, spray down the popcorn, scrape it off, then let it dry, sand / patch as needed and theeeeeen prime are spot on.
TONS of work. I do a room every 6 months. That’s it!

As someone who has removed painted popcorn ceilings - it is miserable.
If you plan on removing the popcorn ceilings at any time in the future, don't paint them!!!
Test for asbestos and just scrape them off.

My house was built in 1976. I had my ceilings tested and they came back negative.

Agreed. That downspout will cause issues with the foundation as well. It is probably a combination of water directly affecting the column and also the porch, as the May pic the joints on the steps seem tighter. Make sure water is not entering on the top of the column somehow and keep snow and ice away from the base of it. Exterior caulk is your friend now.

Garage door sensors can be PITA level finicky. In my house have I have "push" the wire into the sensor every few months (semi-hard to explain) and then it works again. I haven't bothered to try and fix it because it literally happens 2-3 times per year max

I didn't say the cancer had to come from the ceiling cleaning. It's never zero though, it's just close to zero.

You'd have to screw them to the shelf. Remember to predrill the holes for the screws to attach the hangers, that way you avoid splitting the wood of the shelf. Also be sure to measure equal distance from the top so your hangers are even.

I recently came across this hack and it saves so much time and frustration! I managed to hang 3 paintings exactly level relative to eachother, all thanks to this.

Banning new production ot outright requiring the destruction of existing stock? They put that shit in everything so there's still a chance it snuck in.

There's probably gas coming from your basement or drains that will get you faster than fixing the ceiling.

It isn't something that's going to give you cancer over the weekend. Get a proper respirator and disposal gear and clear the house out. This stuff gets you from working with it over a career and without proper PPE.

Exactly... I'm kinda lost on what to put on the shelf. I get that there's tons of things to go into drywall, and stud vs no stud... But what do I put on the shelf to hang it on the wall?

Basically what others said but another issue could be that the door shakes the track just enough to mess up the eyes for a second or the wire that connects the eyes to the opener itself are barely holding on

Gotcha, I understand this column only sits under the front entry overhang so if it fails I know the house isn’t going to fall down. My concern is more whether this growing gap could indicate the porch is sinking/sagging relative to the house? Seems like that would be a lot of movement in a short time so I’m hoping/thinking it’s more related to seasonal wood shrinkage?

Would I have to drill them into the shelf then? Or just use the existing holes?

Maybe hang your shower curtain further inside the shower.

Yes, and it would be nice if it attached to the sides somehow. My shower curtain has magnets on the bottom which I can fasten close to the side of the shower, but if the sides of your shower aren't metal, that won't help you.

I have a plug similar to this but on a light. It comes on randomly. Not often but a few times a year. Hopefully this one doesn't have that "feature"!

So, just to be on the safe side, I should smoke filterless Camels while scraping the popcorn off?
