Could it be done correctly…most likely. You should absolutely consult with a structural engineer to make sure that joist can be modified in that area.

Geocel is by far the best caulk. I've done residing jobs on 40-50 year old siding that had Geocel and it still has to be peeled off in one solid line or cut down the middle.

A drain cleaning service but shop around a bit. Believe it or not, that business is seasonal and this is their busy time.

voltage and amperage are two different things, volts don't kill they hurt, amperage is what kills you.

I haven't tried with a chisel! Good thinking. I'll give that a shot!

does the hose from the DW connected to a newly installed garbage disposal? If so, the intake port will have a cap that needs punched out. Or...
Make sure the hose is installed in the correct way (flap opening away from water flow)?

Sometimes you can knock them off with an old hammer and chisel.

Then if you break that one, you know you use it enough to spend money on a good one.

Angle grinder.

Cheap 4-1/2 inch angle grinder from harbor freight will take care of those. I say get a cheap one because you might only ever use it this one time.

Reply to comment by B1ack_Iron in How to best cover fiber cement dangling tiny fibers (carcinogenic)? by UsefulBeginning
Studies have tied acute exposure to deleterious effects, asbestos just takes 10-40 years to kill you. That means it used to not really matter if you were 30+ because by that point you were going to die from smoking, drinking, and a 1950's American diet. People live longer now.
It is not like smoking because inhalation of tobacco smoke constituents have removal pathways. Carcinogenic asbestos fibers stay in your lungs and cultivate cancer for 10-40 years until they kill you.

"Correct me if I'm wrong" usually means one of two things;
-
correct me if I'm wrong enough to make a material difference, or if it means my guidance would cause a problem if not corrected
-
correct me if I'm wrong which I'm not, but I'm trying to be polite about it.

We had the same issue and it did turn out to be the coin filter/trap, just be ready with towels & buckets etc for the water when you do open it up!

We just had our basement waterproofed (drain tile) and I’m in the process of refinishing. Looking for help deciding on flooring. I was considering a vinyl sheet or tile, or carpet tiles (ease of install plus very inexpensive), but the issue is that our basement floor was painted by the previous owner. If I’m understanding the adhesive instructions, it will not adhere well to paint. Is this accurate? Is there a simple process for preparing painted concrete for adhesive? Looking to create as little dust as possible.
Another option I was considering is laminate. That seems like the next best option considering price and ease of install.

No. Chemicals are never better than physical manipulation with a proper auger. Always snake first. What the Fuck is some acid going to do if your line collapsed? You're going to have a pool of sulphuric acid in the pipe as you work in the repair.
