How long before they start charging us a monthly subscription fee to use the usb port.

I wonder how long before car companies add a USB port near the rear view mirror.

Nice work! Did this same thing for my dashcam, but for the rear camera I went up over the doors. Same end result, just more tucking and less trim removal.

I don't see those taps having a 3rd wire to provide power when the car is shut off, though? At least not for my car. I don't think these would work if you want to enable parking mode.

Heat gun and a draw scraper worked for me. Make sure you get a file and keep the scraper blade very sharp.

That wood is almost certainly subfloor, not floor.

I don't think any operating characteristics are going to be critical to that circuit, so you just need to meet or exceed the voltage and current ratings. https://www.digikey.com/en/products/filter/transistors-bipolar-bjt-single/276?s=N4IgjCBcoGwJxVAYygMwIYBsDOBTANCAPZQDaIALAAxwDMdIh1cFtVIAuoQA4AuUIAMq8ATgEsAdgHMQAX0IB2CohApIGHAWJkQtABxUArPE49%2BkIaMkz5IAExgqEaCD4CAqhLG8A8qgCyuOjYAK4iuIwgIQIAtgCCkTGSAjBU7LYOVLQqbhae3n6BwWERhNEWAGqJyRbUcoSZCC65IPm%2BAUGh4ZHlIDEA6tUSKXaG9SAAtHYqaqIhWiSQ5GMcsmtAA

Pay someone to do this. They’ll have the right tools and techniques, and will be able to refinish after. You can’t get it off without needing to refinish the floor.

i used a wallpaper steamer for this (along with all the PPE). it worked fine, a bit of water was absorbed by floor boards but no damage after letting it dry out.

I have one hard wired in my 2016. Just a tip, consider adding some keywords for the year/trim in the title and comments here so it's more easily searchable.

Mesothelioma is a different beast from smoke inhalation - I’m only saying this because I work around Asbestos frequently and don’t take any chances.
Scar tissue in your lungs is a different issue than potential cancer you would get from smoke exposure - whatever you do make sure you mask up.

I have this standard light switch I want to replace with one that has a pilot light. Switch in garage, lights in backyard.
I only found switches where the light activates in the off position (like a night light), switches with separate pilot lights, and what I'm looking for but as industrial light switches significantly pricier.
Does what I'm looking for exist for home light switch?

Asbestos is the bestos. Can confirm, should be tested. Good luck.

It's not great, but the varnish should resist water to some extent. And the flooring will dry out after the steaming. If you go this route, be careful scraping wet wood. It becomes very easy to start tearing fibers out of the wood.

I've watched wiring/fiber contractors do this a few times.
