I just did this a few week back. Ran cable across top of headliner, down inside front right A-pillar, and then in under the dash to a supply point. Wasn’t eager to mess with the cabling up there. But did remove the sunglass ‘cup’ to check things out.

I consider myself comfortable more than comfortable actually doing electrical stuff and messing with radios and cameras and all that. I hate dealing with the trim pieces though. There should be a special place in hell for the people who design those clips and make it hard to find exact replacements without paying a stealership. .

Oh and Mitsubishi you have an even more special place for the way you setup the dash and what I needed to do to put and aftermarket hu in.

Sent from my 2008 Mitsubishi endeavor with aftermarket radio with Android auto and Apple play auxiliary bt mic and soon to be installed front and rear cameras.

If you can get the bulk up like in the photo and have the 4” scraper as mentioned before, try and turn the blade over to the flat / dull side to get that residual stuff. Sometimes it works better than the sharp side that digs in.

Good news: even if it is asbestos, it’s most likely non-friable, and there is a less likely chance that it’ll become airborne versus cutting with a circular saw, or dry sanding.

We have used our regular mastic remover after the bulk is up and it will soften. And make it easier to remove, but not sure how much damage the chemical will cause in between the slats.

Good luck.

I’m planning on lining the styrofoam with some sort of clear plastic film, I’m not sure of the brand or type - I just found it in my basement. There will be a hole with a stopper at the bottom - still trying to figure out how to seal the plastic to the pvc pipe that will run through the hole.

I usually like to Route it through a battery bank (Rated for higher temp) with a small switch or controller (basically so it can switch to car battery if low). Also allows you to keep loop recording without any worry about draining your battery.

The styrofoam should be fine with water - they make cheap styrofoam coolers that are just foam, nothing else.

Keep in mind that a cooler that starts off full of ice ends up full of water. You’ll need some way to make this cooler you’re building hold water, or it will leak/drip wherever it goes.
