hmmm, I see. Thank you for helping! I'd like to research before I plan out things and then I like look up videos that I can follow which is why I asking this question so that I can at least try to go in the correct direction.

They use piano hinges normally... some have a step to allow a deeper material to recess. Searching "mailbox hinge" on the jungle website produced relevant results.
To snap into place, maybe you're referring to a "ball catch" type mechanism.

Do you have a picture of what you mean by mailbox door ? They look radically different depending on where you live....

Run a dehumidifier. It will drop the humidity substantially while releasing heat as a byproduct of the process.
