One thing not captured by photography is the loud rumbling and cracking of ice shearing off the cliffside...

Beautiful shot! I was just there in August. I'd just like to point out something cool that I didn't know about until I returned from my trip and took a close look at my own photos... if you zoom in carefully you can see Bivacco Gervasutti; it's a crazy fiberglass composite tube bivouac perched halfway up the glacier complete with a dining room and sleep space for 12. Ridiculously impressive, or maybe impressively ridiculous?
Anyways, hope you found that interesting. Happy trails!

I was just thinking that wow. I've never seen this area but you can tell how much that Glacier has receded in recent years.
Same here in Alaska, it's sad and concerning...

Maybe better that way. The water is so cold that when you hit it, you instantly have an urge to take a deep breath. I don't know how people do it from high up. I jumped from about 12 feet, was underwater for like 2 seconds, and felt like I was completely out of breath when I got to the surface

Yes, in your comment you said the Mont Blanc tunnel goes from the Aosta Valley to Switzerland. But the tunnel goes from the Aosta Valley to Chamonix in France.

Looking forwards to seeing some more. Must have felt a bit magic to visit a place humans don't live.

It's fairly inexpensive now and I'll tell you it doesn't come fucking close.

Thank you for the tips. I am luckily respectful enough to nature to never tempt fate with animal encounters and we will definitely get bear spray. I have two kids so can never be too careful out there. I did hear about the 80ft cliff diving and would love to play daredevil with my son but his dad would probably die of a heart attack if we tried. We are in the area for two solid weeks traveling from Jasper to Lake Louise to Banff and Waterton.

Irish man at home. Yosemite is an incredible place I've been in many times from all fantastic Nature shows. Would love to visit.....it's a thing you really need to plan and think ahead for. Difficult trip?
