When Taos Ski Valley didn't allow snowboarding, there was a coalition created called 'Free Taos' to petition the then owners to open up the slopes to boarders. Someone ordered Free Taos bumper stickers, and the person on the other end of the line heard Free Tacos. The Free Tacos stickers are a treasured memorabilia here :=].

My Dad and I were once caught in a blizzard in the month of February during a hike in the Grand Canyon. We were down by the river when a ranger informed us a storm was moving in fast. Had about two miles left to go hiking up the rim when it started snowing. We obviously made back to our car, but those last few miles were miserable.

You can find prickly pear fruit in the US in the store from time to time. You can also grow them with the right climate - in Arizona for instance they go crazy.

Definitely not a "fig" but a cactus fruit. Kinda sweet, kinda like a kiwi inside maybe, very purple red and the juice stains really bad. Have to peel them as the outside skin is tough and can have spines.

Edit: Bonus random Google image pic

I was on here saying it was fake, and I was very confident in my judgment. I've since deleted those comments. Knowing that photo was taken near Centerville, Washington on Oct 10 at 1:09 PM, we can determine the angle of the sun was at 37 degrees. Any rainbow formed at that time would have been a low rainbow, with the top of said rainbow only extended about 5 degrees above the horizon.

It's real, and now I feel like a big, stupid bully. Sorry, OP.

Ficus means fig. From Wiki:

'Common English names for the plant and its fruit are Indian fig opuntia, Barbary fig, cactus pear, prickly pear, and spineless cactus, among many others.'

I was confused, because in my native language (German) the plant is simply called 'Kaktusfeige' (meaning, well, 'Cactus fig').
