I'd have to go back and check my notes. I also stopped a lot for pictures and to let other vehicles pass on narrow portions.

My recollection is somewhere around 3 hours. Though again, that is not reflective of the actual drive time.

Sierra Stars (0839)

Lake George, up in the snowy Eastern Sierra. So many people miss the amazing night sky. I am thankful for the opportunity to have a few friends who are willing to share in adventures and experience new places, escaping from some of the struggles life throws at us for a short while. Going to the Sierras and hiking, kayaking, biking, and slowing down and connecting with the night sky is a luxury. Many cannot do these things, and I never take it for granted. In our fast-paced world, we rarely have a chance to see the stars drift across the sky. This beautiful location is located in Mammoth Lakes, Eastern Sierra, California, with Crystal Crag in the distance and the inspiring Milky Way overhead.

It truly is.

My ex-fiancee and I got engaged down there while camping at phantom ranch.

Both when hiking in and out (+9 miles each way, plus an unfathomable amount of vertical terrain) we were LAPPED by these ultra marathoners rim to rim to rimming the damn thing.

Literally starting on one side of the canyon, running all the way down and back up the other side to then just turn back around and go down and up again to where they start. Multiple times in a day.

Absolutely unbelievable feats of human endurance.

My wife and I swear next time we hike the canyon we're rafting in. F that noise.
