August 21- mid April is aurora season for us. So anytime there is clear skies and a solar event. I like march personally as it’s not too cold

So Australia is as far south as America is north (not counting Alaska).

Australis means Southern. That's how Australia got it's name. Southern land.

The Southern Lights are known as Aurora Australis just as the Northern Lights are known as Aurora Borealis.

This picture though..... raises questions. The colour to start with... the location of the milkyway in the sky. Everything just looks wrong. Aside from that nice image, whatever it is.

We had some strong activity around Christmas so I was able to see it in Tasmania. I haven't heard of it being caught in WA before, but dark skies can make a difference, and they certainly have that.

But Melbourne is at 39 degrees south. Plus 42 north is Chicago and Boston. Even rural areas that latitude see very few auroras (aurorae?)

Hobart is at 42 degrees south. NYC is at 40 degrees north.

I've seen the Aurora Australis from NSW.

I would hazard to say Lannon is waaaay too far north to see it, likely down in margs or something.
