Holy cow....it took me hours to climb up those first tiny foothills ....you could so easily get lost in there!

Imagine... youre a Spanish sailor. You see the land from your ship. grab a musket and a couple of guys on a skiff and head over to make land but it's just miles and miles and miles of endless primordial mangrove swamps, full of 32' (39' ?)Gators, cottonmouth, and flocks of birds. Now your miles into the glades and it's getting dark...

I hiked from the north rim to the south rim with my buddies when we were a boy scouts about 50 years ago. Still one of my best memories.

Its a 1-2 day hike from Roads End in the bottom of Kings Canyon.

Also part of the Pacific Crest Trail.

I was there doing trail maintenance in June 2009.
