Traveling through India and SEA made me realise how overrated Europe is and how underrated the east is.

The majority of people get sold an extremely western-centric view of travel and are missing out on some amazing stuff.

The ruins and temples that I went to in India were far more magnificent than any I came across in Europe and Turkey.

Don't get me wrong - I still love much of Europe I've been to (Italy, Croatia and Slovenia in particular), but there are really incredible sights further east.

The cost of food is not the issue - it’s just that food is bought after most other things. Food in the UK has long been cheap relative to almost all of Europe - even most of those countries that produce enough to be self-sufficient.

The cost of housing is absurd (whether rent/mortgage) and is the only real driver of poverty in the UK. Even β€˜fuel poverty’ at the moment is a bit of a nonsense - people are only struggling with the cost of fuel (directly or indirectly) because their rent/mortgage is too high a proportion of their income.
