How dare people also like & appreciate nature?
It's actually a great thing! Modern technology has made it really easy to know & get to places like this.
Plus, around 90% of people at National Parks never go more than 0.5mile into a trail. So if you want to get away, just get on a trail.

You got it! It was my first time ski touring Shames and it was an absolute treat.

The park has a health mix of deciduous and evergreen forests (sometimes mixed in weird ways, like a strip of deciduous trees through a evergreen area). Looks like all the leaves from the deciduous trees have fallen leaving just the evergreens.

If you like hiking, Mt LeConte and Charlie’s Bunion both had decent viewpoints with less crowds. If you’re up for a challenge, visit Clingman’s Dome when the road is closed. Little to no people are there. If you are a fast hiker, you can probably hike it in one long at from Newfound Gap. Otherwise it’s 2 days (or 3 if you like from the bottom of the mountain like I did).
Also, Clingman’s Dome is best at sunrise/sunset, and in fall, although because of that, that’s when it’s most crowded :(.

This part of BC is insanely underrated. Probably because it's just so hard to get there.

I grew up in Ketchikan, AK. We used to take the ferry to Prince Rupert to drive to the lower 48 or to ski in Smithers. I lost my purple translucent Gameboy in terrace when our Jimmy had a major problem and we had to stop for a night while waiting on repairs. I think my favorite drive in the world is Prince George to Prince Rupert. Beautiful country

Thought so - love skiing Shames after big snow. Once I was waist deep in powder (I'm 6'4") on a Tuesday - it was bliss. We skinned up.

Thanks! Got lucky with the rainbow appearing right after we hiked out of the treeline

Sounds like an amazing time! I wish we had 6 months here. We're off to hike part of the Na Pali Coast/Kalalau Trail next week!

Tennessee has so many beautiful parks and places that I just stay out of the Smokies. It's beautiful but always too crowded.

It was on Monday! Most of the park doesn’t have leaves right now, this was up on the Clingmans Dome observation tower and there were still some green up there!

Go for a hike to a lesser known peak. Even in the high season you can find plenty of isolation.
They also close the Cades cove loop to cars twice a week during the summer, for only bikes and peds, but you have to get up early. In fact, a lot of overcrowded issues can be solved simply by waking up early. :)
